First off the quality of the building is horriable. The drywall screws in the middle of the apartment are coming out and a window is falling out. I also wanted to transfer from my current apartment and upgrade to a bigger apartment, I felt this would be a pretty simple thing to do. I was told that I need to pay for new carpeting $1100.00 due to stains. Maryland State laws states that this would be considered normal wear and tear and if I did have to pay for new carpeting I can only be charged the usefullness life of the carpet. When I stated to management that I needed proof of when the carpeting was installed and its usefullness life I was told that they dont have it. I have lived in this apartment for five years and the carpets have very minimal stains on them. I was also told I need to pay for new flooring on the landing due to it was chipped. On further inspection it is chipped away due to water damage. The ground level where the door is at is leaking. When I stated this I was told there is no proof of leaking when it is obvious water damage. I also had an issue with a roof leak that took 3 times for it to be corrected. When I had to call the 2nd and 3rd time to get it resolved I was told well we spent $500 to fix it already. I had to threaten to withhold payment to finally get it resolved. I also had a mold issue in one of the bedrooms, maintance came out spray painted the mold area on the ceiling and said that would take care of it. It did for a while but sure enough the mold area is showing back thru again.
