My move out experience
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 1/3/2007
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I used to live there. I couldn't delay my move-in any longer and was informed that the carpet replacement wouldn't be scheduled for a few more days. I opted to take the carpet in the condition it was in as long as it was because I had a pet. The carpet was white by the way and I wanted to avoid being responsible for damage to brand new white carpet. For the money I'd save in a non-remodeled apartment that I'd never own, I could live with the used carpet. I made notations on the condition of the carpet after I moved in, documenting the stains, holes, fraying, parting from the walls, etc. on my move-in condition form.
After I moved out, I was charged for the damage already done to the used carpet. They kept my entire security deposit and then they clarified that the $400 pet fee I paid was not a refundable deposit. Bloodsuckers!
