This overpriced apartment complex, while seemingly upperclass and luxurious is nothing of the sort. It is still under construction. The management will lie to you when you're signing your lease about how much noise there is. The noise is constant and starts at 6am, sometimes running until 11pm- and is right outside your window. The walls are paper thin so they will not filter out the sound. The construction workers are rude and will harass you. The food truck that delivers their food rides around the community honking for an hour 7 times per day. The "high class" apartment complex is juxtaposed between two low-income communities. There have been extensive problems with filthy, ghetto thugs from those communities coming on our property, commmiting crimes, using our facilities (pool, etc), harassing people, loitering (sitting on the gates) and management refuses to deal with the problems. The price for rent is so high and you live in the middle of no where and are paying for nothing. Or you have the option to buy a townhouse for $500k, or a home for $800k- some of which are already up for resale probably because people realized how big of a mistake they made moving here. I cannot wait until my lease is up. The buildings are slapped together, half the facilities weren't even ready for use because they were "under construction," until about 2 days ago (and even now they are still not totally complete) and management is a nightmare. Save yourself the heartache. NOISE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. So is crime & general safety.

I am surprised by the opinions of whoever wrote the previous review of this property. I am a State Trooper and have lived here since June and moved into the very first building to be completed from construction. I have had nothing but a fantastic experince since I have moved here. First of all after looking at almost every apartment complex in this area, The Elms at Montjoy, under construction or not has the best floorplans as far as space for the money. When you rent an apartment and it's obvious it's under construction, without even being told you should expect that your going to hear construction noise. Do you want brand new or not? So what, the Fitness center and Pool were delayed due to construction, IT'S CONSTRUCTION, if you know anything about building or buying something delays are to be expected get over it, it's a beautiful facility and you had to go what, a month or two without them, stop living in LA LA land. Construction always has delays. Hope whoever wrote the previous review never Builds a house, because you are in for a serious wake up call. Finally, being a state trooper I have access to knowing what crimes have been reported for this community. To date there has only been one and that crime was nothing compared to the number of crimes committed at every other community in the entire Columbia / Ellicott city area. Again, step into the real world things can happen anywhere. The rental office is not there for the purpose of being anyone's personal body guard and I don't believe they marketed the community as gated or closed entry buildings. Finally, the office staff is wonderful. They were very upfront when we rented about the construction and possible delays. In fact we had to sign something acknowledging the possiblity of delays when we rented. We moved in and our Air conditioning was not working, they had maintenance fix it immediatley and even called back to make sure everything was okay. As a State Trooper I highly reccomend this community to anyone with reasonable expectations. Oh, one last thought, who complains about paying high rent and living in the middle of no where. It's a very nice suburb in addition there is plenty of great shopping in this area no matter what direction you go in. Did you not see your surroundings when you rented. In addition, if you know anything about the housing market, houses everywhere are up for sale. Apartment seekers, don't miss out on a great community! |
