Not Here For Long

My boyfriend and I are recent college grads who are trying to save money. This is one of the only reasons we ended up in Howard Crossing (formerly T&C.) For temporary living, it's not bad. There's a great new pool, tennis courts, gym; it's close to 695, 29, and 95. There are a ton of restaurants, shopping and things to do all within a short drive. There's plenty of parking, we have a great balcony and you actually get a decent sized apartment for what you pay. They even gave me a break on rent and the deposit because I go to Hopkins. THAT SAID... the walls are very thin and you absolutely can hear everything that goes on beside you and below you. The paint has started to chip and we can see huge cracks that were simply painted over before we moved in. The "brand new" stove doesn't work properly. A herd of children play in the street at all hours of the day and you practically have to run them over to park. Teenagers hang out in the stairwells and on the picnic table of the person below us--last summer, a bunch of them got busted for burning mail in the stairwell "beacause they were bored." The Mexican guys that live below us blare ranchero music from their cars at 2 am or 7 am or really anytime normal people are sleeping. During the day, all you can hear is yelling and screetching coming from the pool or the basketball courts (you can avoid this by picking an apartment deeper into the complex). I can't go outside without some disgusting man leering at me and there's a 1 in 3 chance he will make kissing noises and call me "mamacita." Cops are at our building at least once a week, usually for domestics but sometimes for drugs or fights. There are several apartments with far too many people living in them which wouldn't impact me except on nice days there are just tons of people sitting around drinking, smoking, leering or just plain being in the way. Neither I nor my boyfriend have found a single person we feel we could relate to.

Bottom line: This is an ok place to live for a year or two while you figure out where you are going to live next. If you want privacy, decent neighbors or you just don't want to be woken up at 6 am on a Sunday by them, this is not a long-term solution for you.
