This place is interesting to say the least..........
I have lived here for over 5 years. The neighborhood is quiet; mostly adults. Parking can be fun sometimes. But anywhere you have 'street' parking you have the people who don't know how to park. Downfall to this place is you can't downgrade or upgrade; even if you have impeccable payment history. Which I think is goofy but, it's their choice. (although being told that for me to get a bigger apartment I would have to move out then move back = which personally if I move out why would I move back') Rodents/Pests/Bugs not that bad, anyplace you are that has people so closely living together will have this problem, it's a given. HELLLO expect it.
I definitely agree that they need upgrades but with buyouts happening so much in Essex why would they' I feel it's only a matter of time before the management sells out. With the summer your charged an A/C fee per air conditioner for the year and that's it... Necessary utilities are included with your rent : Gas/Electric/Water
In the Winter there are the Radiators, depending what type of person you are depends on how they suit you. I wish I could at least turn them down. Although I do enjoy the one in the bathroom, keeps it nice and toasty. They are controlled by management, you cannot turn them up, down, or off. Sometimes the timing at which they turn them on sucks but... Eh. just open the window. Bring your surge protectors as there are only 3 outlets combined in the living room and bedroom of a 1 bdr apt. The 2 in the living room I think work fine, would like 2 in the bedroom. counter space would be nice. Closets are decent size. The stove is camper size. Wish it was bigger but that's all you got room for.
Can't really say anything about the office staff, only go to the office to drop off the rent so as long as they sign the receipt and hand it over, I don't give a hoot.
So... I would recommend this place as long as you are not coming here expecting luxury, it's a bargain apartment. Can't beat it. Come over take a look, they have models in the rental office. Oh.. and if/when you see any advertisements with Hardwood floors, they're hardwood but they are not pristine they're aged.
I think this apartment complex has been here for over 60 years.. They do maintenance as they need to. If you have a crisis of a problem they are pretty quick but if its something that can wait.... it will.
So remember. I do recommend you come check this place out, the price is great living quality is fine, but it is NOT luxury living. If you want luxury living you'll pay twice what it costs to live here plus utilities.
