Lived here for about 9 years now & finally have got another place. The lack of "caring" and needing things fixed correctly has taken it's toll on me & my family. Should of moved years ago but they are priced "cheap" but not worth it really. We had a problem with our AC unit from year 1 I have a medical note & at times that did not matter. It needed to be charged & Freon added every year till last year when FINALLY the replaced it..however that happened on the 1st hot day of the year 109 outside 125 in my apartment! Then this past winter heat was not working correctly had them check it out said they be back in the am not sure what the problem was since it wasn't freezing cold in my place I said okay...well long story short had a 'friend' look at it they did not hook up the gas line to the new furnace when they replaced it ....They fix things never come back to check on them or replace things that need to be put back like the cork board over the AC unit in the kitchen.

Your electric bill will be OUTSTANDING if you live on the 3rd floor during the summer! Trust me has been for us since we moved in. Last summer Aug & Sept totaled over $800 because of being so high up it NEVER shuts off others we talk to have had the same problem unless your on the 1st floor but then your heating is higher & they have had some big problems with the windows leaking. They fixed those about 6 years ago the old ones you had the worst draft ever now its not so bad but there is one on them really cold & windy days like we have had I use heavy curtains during the winter. Our Gas bill went to a all time high this year that could be due to the wall's separating from the ceiling due to the building "settling" or IMO just because these apartments are not meant for you to live that long in with out a touch up on everything. They also wanted to charge me for normal wear and tear on my Stove & fridge! The darn things are like 20 years old! They seem to promise "upgrades" to the place but never follow threw. Post notes that someone will be in your home between 2 days & they never show . They told us for the past 4 years now the reason the took & knocked out the "storage" units was to make a better wash room for the tenets..well it took them 2 years to knock them down after making us remove all our stuff! Now its been 2 more years and still the same broken laundry room problems not to mention your clothes get messed up or stolen so we haven't done ours there in years. When we did have the storage areas they were all filled with old old trash and it was BAD just bad....

Parking is not great at all & they don't clean up well during winter months. Took me a year to get my handicap sign put in so I didn't have to walk far on the icy sidewalks...parking is 'okay' for 1 car 2 cars be home early! Never had any real big issues with bugs after the people down stairs left they had them like crazy I have had water bugs the last few months in our bathroom but anything else I "haven't" seen. Mice if you don't sneak "pets" in can be a problem ,where every year to I got a "mouse" cat. Lady below still has problems every winter. They send some one out but it doesn't work well. they come back .
Nothing is ever there fault it's always something you did to the place They act all nice but the current manger is a a$$ worst out of them all but hey he's been there the longest. They told us we had to much stuff in a 2 bedroom. TV sofa chair 2 computers and a normal bed room set no kitchen table since it was a "eat in" kitchen if that was to much then I'm sorry & I keep a very clean home. Had 2 extra cabinets in the kitchen there cabinet space SUCKS you get 1 big wall one 1 above the stove & fridge (small) and 1 large to the side of the sink and 1 med. one below the sink. There are 3 drawers with all the extra wall space they should add more ! Also on any floor your oven is a great heater!!! The window & fan don't help to much & for the 3rd floor you got your own steam room! Never used my oven during the summer hardly anyone did for that matter it made it to hot!

I like my neighbors never had bad ones really got along with them for the most part the new ones aren't as friendly like the others we have had but since they are cheap for Essex a lot of people stay a long time. I can't any more its just not worth it I cant chance a another high summer electric bill we had a break last year with it being broken all summer (only a 2 month bill) Also go those lovely electric rates going up so no thanks! To be honest I'm done with Hyde Park If you don't plan on a long stay (we didn't just happened that way) then maybe it wont be so bad but We haven't had anyone stay past 2 years in along time (unless you've been there like us already) Walls are not thin thin but we have noticed that we can hear our neighbors little one running up and down the hall 1st time we had some one with kids close by have heard the guy peeing if I'm in my bathroom never noticed till the past year when they moved in. They seem to have the water shut off a lot around there always need to fix something....Power always went out A LOT when we first moved out there transformers always "blowing" now just maybe once or twice a year. As my hubby says you get what you pay for....so hopefully the extra 160 we will be paying at our new place will be worth it..gotta be better then this palce....We moved in paying $346 They uped it 25-40 a year minus this year they decided to go for market value by putting us month to month so that was a $95 hike!....Never been to court or casued problems or they wouldnt ask us to renew our lease...Just use cauntion and dont stay too long ....

I'm at a loss. If it was indeed that bad why stay for 9 years?! I could understand if you were looking elsewhere within an year or even two. Being on the third floor of course it will be hotter (heat rises). Noise - to be expected it is apartment living. Now if you said you had constant noise complaints against your neighbors and management did nothing -ok. For the amount of complaining you did-again-why stay for 9 years. You could have always found somewhere better. Now management is just people. But from a renters' stand point-did you complain to them about your maintenance issues? Did you go over their head if needed? I'm sorry your experience was bad. Do anyone still residing here have the same/different problems with these apartments?

Everything that Life at the Park typed is 100% true. I have lived here for 6 years and Life at the Park is right it is cheap to live here, but the winters here are terrible because of mice which the do nothing about. Since your not suppose to have pets. I see plenty of people walking there dogs and I see cats in the windows, but it would be my luck. They would fine me if I got a cat. I prepare every winter with my peppermint oil and cotton balls which helps. The leasing manager is a racist. The maintance here is just horrible. I had a maintance man come in to fix my a.c. unit, he said he had to go get some tools and never came back. I had to call the rental office about him and they eventually sent another. They have raised rent again talking about they how they need to maintain Hyde Park, but we have no storage units anymore, because they are suppose to be redoing the laundry area which is still not done and it has been months. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers for two buildings that are next to each other. That is 22 units with only 3 washer and 3 dryers. Then had the gull to raise the prices on the machines. They painted our doors with this cheap paint the chips off. The kitchen is very out dated stove and especially the cabinets. I wouldn't recommend Hyde Park Apartments to a bum. I am so glad that I am leaving here this year. Enough is enough.
