First, I would like to say that Essex has taken a dramatic turn for the worst over the last ten years. Unfortunately, a lot of the welfare and section 8 recipients have been placed in various apartment complexes around Essex from various parts of Baltimore City. Now hard working people like myself who moved from the city here over 8 years ago, is now faced with dealing with the caliber of people. My husband and I have been living in Hyde PARK for 6 months ,and I have to say that we are totally fed up with the noise from the hallways amongst other things. There is always people hanging out in and across the street from where we live. Every time we complain to the maintenance they always make excuses of TRYING to work out the problems, but it has yet to ever happen. I am very disappointed with the way that they deal with complaints from the tenants. When we first moved in they gave some sheet of paper that allows you to check off any and all repairs that need to be fixed. We reported back at least six things that needed to be rectified. Upon placing our request to have the issues resolved we were promised that everything would be cleared away soon after. Although, the maintenance team made an attempt, they still unsuccessfully left the drain clogged which is still a problem up until NOW. Their is also an infestation of roaches and mice that is almost impossible to contain. Our lease is up early next year and we will not be renewing. I guess this place is good if you are in desperate need or if you just don't know any better, so i would advise anyone who has kids or just care about where you live to do your homework before moving here. You may even get lucky and be able to get placed on same side of the complex near the rental office " THE NICE SIDE ", where their is actually grass growing in everywhere, and not balled spots and patches. Otherwise, you could be placed on the " GHETTO SIDE" where the drama and action takes place. Sounds like fun HUgh ''
