Reading all these reviews before deciding to move into this apartment made me scared at first. Hearing about all the supposed noises, crime problems, and bug problems made me weary of signing a yearly lease with Queens Purchase. But when I moved into Queens Purchase, I was amazed. Ive been in 2 apartments within the past year. 1st was at Ross Ridge in Rosedale (overpriced, loud & too many bad teenagers roaming around the neighborhood), then Hazelwood Apartments in Rosedale (overpriced, small, and rodent problems). I thought living in Essex would be worse then Rosedale, but living here has actually givin hope living here. Its so quiet at night, I open my windows and all I hear are the crickets and the occasional trashmen who empty the dumpsters. During the day its also quiet. The neighbors are all nice, kind, and courteous. I am a 19yr old asian woman living alone in a one bedroom apt on the top floor. I like feeling secured. The secured apt building doors, the secured locks on my door never make me feel a bit scared. Once I accidentally locked myself out of my car and apt. Neighbors whom I never met tried to help me in every which way. No rodent problems at all and no bugs or anything. The apartments are so big, cheap, and well built. Everything is sturdy and most are already renuvated. When I first moved in I thought that the paper the apt gave me as far as reporting any nicks or damages to the apt would be filled with all kinds of problems with the apt. To my surprise, I couldnt even find one thing wrong with my apt unlike my old overpriced apts. I didnt even need to hand in that paper to the apt! Thats how great of a condition the apts here are. I also priced and compared all the apts within the Essex & Rosedale area and by FAR this is the best deal ever! I almost lived at Hartland apts across the street who are also owned by Henderson Webb Inc., but they were so much smaller. I am definetly planning to live here until I can move into a house. I rate this a 5star. All of my friends who visited all my apts think so too! Neighborhood bad' no way...just people being misinterpreted for the color of their skin and just because they are sitting at the bus stop waiting for their transportation doesnt mean they are bad and will steal your cars. I honestly think this area is safer than Rosedale and the funny thing is Rosedale is much more expensive. Maintenance is wonderful also! The first week I moved in, they had inspection for all apts for the furnace and heating & a/c. No problems at all with any of my appliances or lighting but if I ever do... no worries because they will come over asap and fix it. 744 sq ft for a one bedroom for only $655 in the year of 2008'! what other apt do you know for that price and that spacious in Essex'! living here is like living in luxury..but the only difference is that I dont have to empty my wallet and count the spare change and calculate my debt!! BEST CHOICE TO LIVE HERE!! DONT BELIEVE ME'! CHECK OUT THE PICTURES OF MY PRETTY APT!!

Duh~~~ you live on the top floor...hence no one over ur head...so how would you hear noise? oh please..how much did they pay you to print that so called testament to the wonderfullness of Queens Purchase? I guess you have not heard the gunshots, or seen the helicopters in the sky every night just about with the beam light shining down. But then again, anyone who puts their dining room pictures up with a folding table and chairs for their dining room furniture and isnt smart enough to figure out you wont hear noise when you live on the TOP floor, I guess we cant expect too much from you. If anyone wants to know the real deal about any of Henderson Webb properties...just go and ask people who live there and have real furniture in their home and DO NOT LIVE ON THE TOP FLOOR!!!!

ok so the user's response that was just posted was obviously made by an immature and disrespectful person with the "duh~~~" quote but whomever that was should respect that not everyone is rich and I actually think the person who wrote this review should have some proper respect because she is only nineteen years old and is living by herself...no one shouldnt judge her just because she might have a folding table...how many other nineteen year olds who live by themselves, especially with the economy being so horrible nowadays? and everyone remembers when they first started out, that they didnt have the luxury to buy fabulous things but hadto work with what they had. I've lived at Queen's Purchase apts for eight years going onto nine and I dont get those gunshots or helicopters beaming in on me and if you are getting an apartment you should already be wise enough to either pick the top or bottom floors. The middle floors are cheaper for a reason. And I'm appreciative that at least one person took the time to wrote their opinion and actually took pictures for possible future residents. This website isn't used for immature disrespectful persons, just to list everyone's personal opinions that shouldn't be judged by but just be taken into consideration when looking for a place to live.

I agree with the last responder. That was rude and uncalled for. If you want people to hear your point of view, try saying it in way that doesnt offend others. It is people like YOU that would keep me far away for the apartment building in question...not the current tenant. The EPITOME of ignorance...

Haha.. You just have to laugh at people like that. First of all, if you live in or near any major city you are going to hear sirens and see helicopters on occassion. By that guys logic, living on a top floor makes you unqualified to review the quality of living at an apartment. Just stupid. At least she stated that was on a top floor. Most top floor apartments still have neighbors to the sides of them that could create noise. It's funny.. That guy can figure someone out based on their furnature. A 19 year girl that lives alone doesn't have designer furnature.. She must be a lowlife huh? I actually just went to Queens Purchase yesterday to check it out and it did seem nice. I'm going back on Saturday with my girlfried to see what she thinks. If she likes it we will probably move in. I have seen a lot of negative reviews about Henderson-Webb apartments, but they are many complaints about management and payment problems. A word of advice: Read all the rules and guidelines defined in your lease and on the webpage. Request any additional information that they might have to make sure you know everything. If you don't pay your rent on time, you are going to have trouble anywhere. Thanks for the pictures. That gives me something to show my girlfriend before we go to check it out again. I'll write another review if we move in.
