We Are Being Scammed For Money'
Welcome to Doral Terrace. We accept anyone (regardless of your credit) as long as you keep giving us your money.

Bad Credit – That’s ok. Just pay us a NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of 1 months rent and you can live here. A Non-Refundable Deposit. Isn’t that a contradiction'

Do you want new carpet' Well give us $100 more per month.
Do you want new appliances' Well give us $100 more per month
Do you want vertical blinds' Well give us $200 and we will put them in for you
Do you want to transfer to a bigger or smaller apartment' Well give us $450 Transfer fee if you call on Monday. The Transfer fee is $525 if you call on Wednesday.

Even though Maryland Laws says that we have to get a receipt “If we ask for it”, our lease reads that we will not be provided a receipt. HMMMM' Although we have a wonderful rental office on the premises, we have to mail our rent to a PO Box in Virginia. Why' Well if we don’t have a receipt, they can easily say we didn’t pay on time and then guess what' You owe $100 in late/legal fees.

If something in your apartment breaks, you have to pay them to fix it. Yes you have to pay for fuses, broken toilets, and you even have to pay $100 if you litter. Don’t you get it' We are paying them to pick up trash.

Have you tried to call the main office in Virginia' Try calling and ask to speak to a Manager. Malcolm will get on the phone, be rude to you and then hang up on you. If you ask the receptionists to let you speak with someone else, Malcolm will pick up the phone and hang up on you again. What a wonderful business.

We Need to Fight Back

I don’t know about you but I am tired of this. Tenants we need to get together to fight this madness. File complaints with the Better Business Bureau about Bernstein Management. You can file online at this address: http://complaint.bbb.org/

Or you can write to this address: Council on Better Business, 4200 Wilson Blvd, Suite 800,
Arlington, VA 22203-1838
Another option is to write: Landlord/Tenant-MD, 2217 St.Paul St., Baltimore MD 21218
Bernstein’s information is: Bernstein Management Group, PO Box 3090, Merrifield VA 22116. Online all you need is the phone number and they know who the company is. 703-204-2000

This could be a wonderful place to live if we had decent management. We should not allow them to take advantage of us. We need to get together and stick together so they will know that we are not going to allow them to treat us this way. We have a right to live in a safe place and we have a right to have management who works with us to make things better. All they seem to want is mo money, mo money, mo money.

Send all your payments certified mail because they have a "policy" that they do not verify rental history.

I am so sick of babydivadj saying send in your payment certified mail. We live here we know the rules. What do you get paid to keep responding to someones comment or what.

I really do not see why people complain about living here. I have been here a long time and have not had any problems with the management, maintenance, or rental office staff. It seems to me that a lot of peoples complaints are due to the reason that they are not paying their Rent on time. If you are late and or owe someone money then they have the right to charge late fees and legals. Credit cards are the same way, but not many people read the fine print like in a lease. I would suggest that if you pay your rent on time you will not have to worry about paying anymore than your rent. Bright idea huh? So simple, yet so forgotten! I pay my rent on time and enjoy the complex and staff and find it quite silly that people whine about paying their bills.

Forget their policy folks, I used to live here, they are REQUIRED by law to keep a rental history. If you request a receipt and Malcolm refuses CALL THE STATE OF MARYLAND. Maryland will contact them directly and I BET you, you will get everything you need and Malcolm will be so nice. If you keep the state and your attorney in their behind Malcolm will try to be your best friend.

Payment of rent is not a precondition to fair treatment of tenants.THE ONLY REMEDY FOR FAILURE TO PAY RENT IS EVICTION!Rats, roaches, heating and cooling outages, refusal to replce anything that is not completely worn out. There only consistency is an anual rental increases. They fired the only maintenance man who had enough experience to keep the aged equipment running. A visit from ICE would leave us without a maintenace staff. In order to maximize parking spaces they made them too small. This causes you neighbor to put dings in your car. I have climbed in the passenger side on many occiaisons because someone was parked to close.
