I moved here in 1/06 and moved out 9/06. My apt was full of roaches. It didn't matter if we had food out or not; they were everywhere..falling from the ceiling, crawling on our beds, sofa, walls, in dishwasher, in refrigerator, EVERYWHERE! I called for extermination once or twice a month and it did not help. It's a safety hazard. All I could think of was I would be eating one, one day. We always ate with the light ON! We gave a 2-month notice for plans to vacate. They charged me for the rest of the lease even though they had new residents living there (that's illegal-read your lease), we are still getting PEPCO bills at our new apt for electricity being used since November (they have not changed the name on the PEPCO BILL to the new residents), they claim we didn't clean the apt, that we left furniture, and bulk items inside, which is a bold-face lie. It took us 3 days to clean the apt before we gave them the keys. (I made the mistake not walking through with them when I gave Gary the keys) They also don't want to return our security deposit. My lawyer advised me to sue them for "failure to return security deposit" and we have a court date in a few months. They claimed our $2,190 security deposit was not refundable; only $300 of it was refundable. We have all of our receipts, paperwork when we moved in and our lease. Our lawyer says that's against the law and that they forfeit their rights to the security deposit since they broke the law! (IT'S ALSO IN YOUR LEASE) Know your rights as a tenant; otherwise, you have no rights. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING; KEEP ALL RECEIPTS! THEY ARE LIARS! PLEASE READ YOUR CURRENT LEASE TODAY. I currently live in Doral Terrace and Ive been there for 1month, Ive noticed the roaches every once in a while, only in the kitchen. I constantly BLEACH my counters, sink, garbage disposal and put a little behind the stove, and I havent seen anymore. But I can say, these apartments are way too expensive for what you get. The carpet is terrible, and they claim they clean it before you move in. It is really bad. All in all, after reading all of the reviews I will be sure to keep all my checks written to pay my rent. I just think it is ridiculous that you have to mail in your rent. How fun! And in response to the security deposit, a friend of mine moved out a couple months ago, and has yet to receive her deposit. There answer is it should be there by the end of next week. Well just put it this way, its been 2month already.
