Parking isn't too bad. I usually get a spot. Noise is a problem. I can hear everything that goes on in surrounding apartments as well as outside. I've called the police on my neighbors (due to noise late at night or really early in the morning) and reported it to the rental office 3 times and it doesn't seem like anything was done. Roaches are everywhere. If you request an exterminator, they will come but it gets worse after they come. The exterminator said to expect that and they will die down after 2 weeks. Well, they haven't died down at all. I had the exterminator coming on a regular basis but it didn't do anything. I stopped asking for them. You have to go through so much for them to exterminate and it doesn't work. It's a waste of time and possibly money. The outside is well kept. Actually, better than ibside. No one has come to change the filter, ever. They have only checked the smoke alarm once and that's only because the fire dept. did a surprise ramdom check. They check to make sure a battery is in but the alarm run by electrical cords (I know, it went off at 4:00a and I took the battery out and it kept going. I had to unhook wires until the rental office opened). I have not had any problems as far as safety is concerned. However, my right sideview mirror was broken and was hanging by the electrical cords and the police will drive through the parking lot. Sometimes after someone or because they have nothing else to do. I had to put a sheet up at the window to keep the cold air out in the winter and the heat out in the summer. Insulation sucks. Maintenance will attempt to fix your problems but there's one problem they've been trying to fix since 2 weeks after I moved in. Also, I requested something to be replaced 2 months ago and I'm still waiting. Staff is friendly (and fake I think). Overall, compared to other places I've lived or worked, This wouldn't be a first or a last choice. There definitely better and a few worse places you could move to but I'm trying to leave. F.Y.I. Don't ever lock yourself out.

I lived that complex almost 10 years ago and from these reviews it appears NOTHING has changed. The only issue I didn't have a problem with was roaches but everything else under the sun mentioned was an issue. To those of you still living there let me tell you what helped me in dealing with Bernstein Management and you WILL need to follow this in order to avoid them trying to screw you when you move out because they WILL try to. ***1. If you are having issues with your apartment of the Bernstein Management staff file a FORMAL complaint with the State of MD. One thing I can say about MD is they do their job. If you have a problem with your unit under law in MD the landlord only has a certain # of days to fix the issue or be fined DAILY by the state. So it's important you stay in contact with them (the state). Go to www.oag.state.md.us to file a complaint online or call 410-528-8662. Tell them you have a complaint about your landlord and maintenance or any of other issue. A rep will contact you back in 24 hrs I think. ***2. Take pictures of ALL maintenance requests before AND after the work is completed. This way when Bernstein tries to charge you for the work they did you have proof to sue them and they WILL back off. ***3. Don't waste your time calling the Virginia office as Malcolm is just there to tell you off. Put your requests in formal writing to the on-site office. If no response in 24hrs see number 1. ***4. When you get ready to move out take video and/or pictures of how you left the apartment because they WILL say you left it damaged and attempt to keep your security deposit. They tried that with me but my pics shut them up. It was hell living them but I gave them hell right back until I moved. Stay on them by contacting the State of MD because one thing Bernstein hates is fines from the State. Also, if they (Bernstein Mgt) attempt to retaliate against you that is also against the law. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. They only take advantage of those who don't know their rights in Maryland but Maryland is VERY strict with landlords but they can't help you if you don't report them. SORRY TO SAY THAT WHEN I LIVED IN DORAL TERRANCE I ALMOST GET KILLED WALKING TO THE BUS STOP AT NIGHT WHEN SECURITY WAS OFF THAT NIGHT NOW TELL ME HOW ---- UP WAS THAT. I TOLD THE RENTAL OFFICE ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN THEY DIDN'T DO ANY THING ALL THEY WAS CONCERN ABOUT THE HOW WAS I GOING TO PAY THE RENT. I WAS STABBED 5 TIME AND ALL THE WORRIED ABOT THE RENT. DON'T MOVE THERE PLEASE SECURITY IS A JOKE. KIDS CAN'T PLAY OUT FRONT SECURITY RUN THEM BACK IN THE HOUSE AND THEY MESS WITH THE WRONG PEOPLE INSTEAD OF RUNNING THE DRUGS BOY OUT OF THE COMPLEX
