I am a 25 yr old single woman with no children who was looking for an apartment back in May 2008 and sought out about 10 different places. I wasn't to familar with this side of town (Forestville, Oxon Hill, Suitland, District Heights, Temple Hills) area. I found at first that the rental office at Regency Village was pleasent and professional. I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG the day I signed my name on the lease all HELL broke loose. First my apartment wasn't ready, things that needed to be fixed took months for someone to come out and repair. In the summer I needed a new a/c unit and had to suffer 14 days with no a/c. The rental office offered no fans or any compsenatation. It took more than three months for my light bulb in the kitchen to be replaced among many other things. When you call the rental office they take your request but maintence shows up at there convience. Rencently I discovered a mouse and I'm not a nasty person, in fact I probably clean too much. They came 1 momth later with pest control and in my opinion did nothing. I can't wait unitl my lease is up in May 2009 to move elswhere. On my move-in worklist I put that my balcony railing was loose and the screws need to be checked, however no one followed through and on Christmas Eve my friend fell off the balcony while smoking a cigeratte. I spent all night at PG ER and he's alive with a broken leg and foot. Of course now there a lawsuit. There are always rude children in the hallways and don't move out of the way when you say " EXCUSE ME", I guess there not used to people with manners. There are guys always in front loud, smoking and drinking. There is no real security, well police cars sit in the front of the complex during just that sitting. When I first moved in I heard gun shots all the time. Laundry room smells, flies and just nasty i nevered used it. In fact it looks like something striaght out of a horror movie. Overall, this has been an experience to remember and I will miss the spacious apartment. Honestly the apartments are huge and lots of closest space. Its too bad the management is poor and nasty tenants. If you can help it don't move here or be fooled by the landscaping or lies told about how good the property is.

I feel you on everything you said! I broke camp from there in Nov and have been happy every since. I taped my keys, parking passes and a note on the wall and locked the door behind me and never looked back...

My opinion to you is to go to Hyattsville court to landlord and tenant in Maryland. File a rent escrow case against them, they will have housing come out to inspect your apt. They have a certain time fram to fix the things in your unit or you will receive your rent money back

I am looking for a place to stay because I am relocating from Florida. It just seems to me that when these negative comments are made, back to back that I need to see for myself. Alot of times when people are unhappy its because they wanted something from the rental office or may have not kept up to their end of the bargain. I have visited the property and have a cousing who lives there. Unlike these unfortunate comments, she has had a good experience. she says that she pays her rent on time and when there are issues in her home, they get fixed in a resonable time. I will revisit this site and give my own experiance after I move in. I am a pretty reasonable person so my experience may be more positive.

umm...homegirl from florida...please post your own review since you wanna find out for yourself. FORESTVILLE is NOT the place to be! your cousin must live right next to the rental office if she's having such a good experience.

LOLOLOLOL!!! I'm only laughing because this sounds like we live in the same building! Oh yeah, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Everything and I mean everything that you have said...I can relate to (maintenance, mice, little boys in the hall trying to be the Hot Boyz, police cars just sitting with no one really working, etc. The management comes off to me like it's all about money. They are not concerned about the well-being of the tenants. Whether you are the property manager or a leasing consultant, you are supposed to be compassionate about the tenants. You won't hear from them when you need them, but they will cover your door with all types of notes or even vacate you for a $10 trash fee that's overdue!!!! I have come to the manager on numerous occasions about the noise that my neighbors that live upstairs is making. They have only been there for a few months and have brought nothing but noise. I have written letter after letter and even sent the manager emails. I'm ready to go to corporate at this point. I even had to call the police on them twice. One thing that I seriously have a problem with is their dog that they allow to run through the apartment in the wee hours of the morning and the only thing that management can say is that..."They pay a fee to have the dog there." SO WHAT! I can go on an on about the management and the leasing consultants. On the day that I was supposed to move in, no one tells me that the unit is not ready so I had to move all my belongings back in my old apartment and then wait a few weeks to finally move in. Talk about an inconvenience? They want you to be a building captain and snitch on the neighbors, but can't help your living arrangements? One day, I was in the rental office to talk about my many problems (yes it is better to go to the office because talking over the phone is just wasting breath) and I asked this couple were they thinking about moving around here. I warned them. The woman said yes but the guy was looking uneasy and must already had issues about the community. To make a long story short, they left. How about one of the leasing consultants hauled ass through the office to go tell. I laughed and was hoping that ----- tripped!!!! LOL! Then the management called themselves reprimanding me. Why were they mad? Because I was simply telling the truth and helping the couple avoid unnecessary troubles and heartache? I am 25, single mother and my 9-year old son can even see that this is not the place to be. I work everyday. I pay the full rent($1027...no section 8) on time. I just ask for them to be a little bit more understanding to the tenants problems and concerns.
