I have lived in Surrey Square since May 2003. First, I was not given the apartment I was supposed to move into. I was told and given in writing that I would move into a one bedroom with a den. When moving day came, it was the wrong apartment. I was told that when a one bedroom with den became available, I could move there... it's February 2004 and I am still in the same apartment. Second, my apartment was NEVER cleaned. I reported it for a month, but nothing was done. I called the property owners (Lerner Corporation) and they did nothing. Finally, the manager decided I would not have to pay June's rent... but the apartment still was not cleaned. Did I mention there were blood stains'!'! Third, my stove did not work and they saw no problem with this. I was told by the leasing office to buy a microwave. I didn't have an electrical outlet in the bathroom and I was told (again by the assistant manager) to run an extension cord from my bedroom. Fourth, I did not have heat when it was 20 degrees outside. I called and wrote letters for six consecutive days. Nothing was done. I wrote letters to Lerner Corporation three times, but they were all unanswered... and let's not even get into how many times I called and left messages that were not returned. When maintanence finnally came to fix the heat, they decided it would be nice to turn my heat up to 90 degrees and leave it on ALL DAY. Packaged candy had melted in my kitchen!!! Fifth, the neighbors are LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. Sixth, the security gate has not worked since July 2003 (again, it's now February 2004). Seventh, the fake security guards are too busy trying to get girls phone numbers that they don't notice (or smell) actual crimes taking place. Whatever you do, don't move to Surrey Square Apartments!!!
