I was a prospective renter for these apartments. I applied to these apartment over the summer and recieved the absolute WORST treatment by any apartment community that I've applied to, specifically by Robin. (Tamar just basically ignores people and lets Robin and Nano do ALL the work while she sits at her desk. She does NOT deal with the prospective renters. They have the maintenance guy, Nano, show the potential renters the unit instead of doing it themself.)

During the whole application process, many of my phone calls were not returned and they were not informing me of my status after I waited the time Robin told me it would take to hear word back from the coporate office. She kept telling me she would call me back and NEVER did even though the coporate office did give them my approval. I was finally able to get a hold of Tamar who refused to say what her name was, just that she was the "community manager."

Also, while I was submitting various paperwork during the ordeal, Robin would sometimes call me to tell me, "oh, she forgot to tell me that I need to fill out this paperwork. And that paperwork." Sometimes she wouldn't tell me until I was the one who called to ask if all the paperwork was OK. If she done this a hundred times, how can she not know ALL the paperwork that is required from a prospective renter' This only slowed down the process as she wouldn't call for a fews days in between to tell me something was missing and she would fax it right over.

Six weeks later, when a vacancy finally opened up (after *I* was the one who called), it was a ground unit with an extra sink. Before I applied to these apartments, I was shown a different model unaware of the fact that there is two different models for the 2 bdrm, 1 bth in Phase 2. Before I applied, Robin specially told me that the units coming up were on the middle floor and top floor. Imagine my disappoinment when I went to check out the apartment and it was on the bottom floor. I made my request clear to Robin in the beginning. When I told Robin it was not the model and level I wanted, she acted nonchalant and very dismissive. (That was her whole attitude during whole application process. That, and she acts like she does not want to work.)

Right then and there, I decided I did NOT want to deal with these type of unprofessional and incompentent people for a whole year. If they acted like this during my application process, I could only imagine the hell I would go through if I lived there.

Nano is just OK. He seems rather helpful but lack knowledge about the place. Even though he is the maintenance guy, he doesn't know about the layout of the apartments. I asked him some basic information like which buildings have the extra sink and which floors and he kept saying he didn't know. As a maintenance guy going in and out of people's apartment constantly, how can you not know that information' That kind of stupidity truely escapes me.

The apartments are decent. Small but nice for a family of 3. You can hardly tell the masters bedroom from the second bedroom and the living room is kind of small. I only viewed the newer ones in Phase 2 though. (towards the back of the community.)

All and all, the staff members are absolutely atrocious. Never in my life have I met a bunch of inept, unprofessional people running a business.

PROSPECTIVE RENTER: YOU ARE FOREWARNED!!! APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. It's not worth dealing with the headaches this staff will give you.

Yes. I found a very nice apartment community in Fairfax County, VA. It cost a considerable amount more than HCM but the way I looked at it, it was worth paying more for a competent staff. (Not to mention a MUCH bigger apartment space :-)
