Like the person before wrote, don't bother yourself with Elmwood Terrace Apartments. See below as to why:
1. Neighbors - I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and I had neighbors there that were cleaner, nicer and more considerate. In agreement to the last review you will find flyers all over the floor by the mailboxes. I have also seen on the floor below me someone put their garbage out in the hall. Did they actually think that someone was going to toss it for them'! The consideration factor... it doesn't exist. I put in a complaint about our upstairs neighbor who must have a lead foot and he never slept. Several times he kept me awake till 4am on a workday. I had to resort to earplugs but that didn't work either.
2. The Walls - Apartments should be insulated, well at least the walls that divide the apartments, they are not here. I totally agree with past reviews about having conversations with your neighbor through the wall. I have heard them use the bathroom which means they heard me. The lowest volume music would sound loud.
3. The Windows - They are currently replacing them but the old one leak. Bad rain storms and I had puddles in the apt. The sealant on them well didn't exist anymore.
4. Management - Overall they aren't bad. When I complained they responded quickly but as soon as the neighbor denied the noise they started blaming it on me that maybe I was imagining things.
5. Plumbing - I had to call maintenance for a stocked up toilet 4 Sundays in a row. The plumbing is so bad, there is no pressure.
6. Parking - Like others, get use to walking. It is disturbing especially when you see a car parked in the same spot for several months and you know it hasn't moved because of a flat tire. Or a moving truck in a spot for over a month. It is very frustrating.
7. Random Water Shut Offs - Three times during my 14 month stay management and maintenance shut off the water without any notification to the tenants but after calling them they had knowledge that they were going to shut off the water.
Good things about the place:
1. The size of the apartment - The rooms are big for an apt. in the area.
2. Maintenance - Can't complain, they came when I called.
That is about it, overall, get a smaller nicer apt somewhere else... it will be worthwhile.
