I lived here a couple of years ago when I was fresh out of school and living on my own for the first time. I had no credit history and this was one of the only places that would accept me. I choose it over a couple of other ghetto looking places because the apartment sizes were good.

The first bad sign was when I saw police patrolling the complex every night in golf carts... amazingly enough this did not deter several mass car breaks-ins... pretty much except the fact that your car will be brokwn into at least once per year.

also, there were two shooting incidents during my six month stay but thank god the thugs around there have bad aim and nobody was hit.

the final straw came when the neighboring apartment became occupied with crack dealers... first, confused crack heads began tapping on my window at strange hours of the night thinking my apartment was the one "open for bussiness"... and then the crack dealer and 3 of his buddies beat up some guy right in front of my door. I heard what I thought was knocking on the door and when I opened the door I found this old man being beaten and it was his head being kicked into the door that was making the knocking sound... the thugs ran away and I had to call 911 to help the victim. It turned out the whole thing was a case of mistaken identity and this poor guy was just visiting his neice and knocked on the wrong door.

I moved out right away but still had to go to court over the whole incident.

Please, don't be cheap and go to Elmwood. Pay a couple hundred extra bucks to be safe.
