Rt. 40 isn't a great place to live but it was close to my and my husband's jobs so we had to find something. As far as rt. 40 goes it was a descent place. I've seen much worse. There were roaches occasionally but we found that as long as we kept our place clean and kept food stored in air tight containers etc. that it wasn't a problem. I guess some of our neighbors weren't so neat and they decided they'd found better feeding grounds else where. We saw one or two come up out of the sink from time to time but that was it. And only in the kitchen. Besides that maintenance sprayed for bugs once a month or so so they were doing what they could. It's hard to find an apartment complex more then 10 years old without bugs.
As far as maintenance, every time we called they arrived promptly, made sure we were home or knew when they were coming and were friendly and efficient. The staff was friendly enough when we had problems.
Parking sucks. It's mostly because a lot of the tenants have extra cars, some even have cars in the lot that I think were disabled. People had parties on the weekends and such like that so sometimes we had to park in the street and walk back. When we alerted the office they told us there was nothing they could do.
I do know a lot of the people in the complex were drug dealers etc. I never had any trouble with any of them but my husband and I keep to ourselves. So, some bad elements but not like inner city baltimore style. I never feared for my life. Never heard of any apartments being broken into. (Doesn't mean it didn't happen of course).
