My wife and I have lived in Fieldpointe for some time and we're both sorry to leave it. Compared to the other accommodation in the area, Fieldpointe is the safest, the best-kept and best value you are going to find without living in the higher dollar communities.
Parking is only a problem if you arrive late in the evening. However, we lived in one of the sections that had a much smaller lot, but still found ample space. If you have more than one car, though, be prepared to park a little further out -- but it's your own fault, really.
The walls have never come across as too thin. We lived closest to the road and never had a single problem, even during rush hour. Our neighbours produced no noise that could be heard, with the exception of loud talking in the hallways, but even that is muted with some soft music playing.
The grounds are very nice, but it's no country club. The grass is kept nice and cut, trees can be found everywhere, each adding a safe, comfortable feeling to the complex. The buildings are slightly old, but in no way are they decaying. The tennis and volley ball courts are a nice feature, as is the pool. The gym was a let down, though, but it's not that much of a big deal. It is also next to the Mt. Olivet cemetery, which is kept immaculate year round and is beautiful in the winter (if that's your sort of thing).
Even though we live close to the city center, the area never made my wife feel threatened. There were a few incidences when we first moved, but for such a diverse community (Black, White, Hispanic and Asian) the area never had a bad atmosphere. Motion sensitive lights are at each enterance and the hallway lights never go out.
Construction was not an issue. No building work was being done, apartments functioned soundly and with no "aged" looking sections, as far as I could tell.
Maintenance was a two-sided coin. We needed our air conditioning fixed four times, each time it was fixed promptly by the one guy who is kept busy around here. Actually, I came out one time and offered him a drink and we spoke at length about engineering, Harry Potter, politics and about the area in general. He was a bang-up chap -- never heard him complain once.
The staff are a let down. Rachel was fine with my wife and I, but sort of speaks to you like you're an idiot, but from the way she talks and presents herself -- she really isn't worth concerning yourself with. The rest of the team are polite.
Overall, the place was great. No pests every bothered us, no noise, things worked fine, the water sewage trash included was nice, but the price is going up as of September 2007, so perhaps the value for money will decrease. I'll be sad to see Fieldpointe go. Recommended!
