Lived here twice, gave it two chances, terrible!!

Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2006
My time living at Hunters Glen were some of the worst years of my life. It was extremely unsafe! Our first apartment was broken into, was personally attacked, and also had my vehicle severely damaged twice. (Very obvious intentional damage, even according to police investigations).
Our apartments were kept immaculate, although when some building improvements were done, the cockroaches came out in DROVES! We complained relentlessly - had to do our own extermination..(Hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth) although they kept finding a way in! Eventually, we found that our entire building was afflicted with this terrible experience since the work was started. It seemed as though they were living in the attic' area.. as when the roof replacement/repair began, that is when the roaches from heck came out.
We left due to this terrible infestation! Although we complained to maintenance, management, corporate.. by telephone, in person, by email, and letter.. the management changed so frequently that nobody proclaimed to have knowledge of the circumstances!
Once these horrible cockroaches infest your living space, even when it is immaculate, they find something to eat - and that is YOUR FOOD. We had to put bags on our boxes of pasta, cereals, etc.. because they would get through the boxes! It was a nearly terrifying experience.
Besides this, we had broken air conditioning for YEARS. They refused to pay for a new system. They kept trying to repair it. We lived on the top floor, and typically had a temperature above 90 degrees in most months. Although I have a physical condition that makes such temperatures extremely dangerous, they honestly didn't care. I spent a majority of my time sitting at the Library.. reading books during the warmest hours for months on end.
Speaking to many other residents, TONS of people had the issue of broken air conditioning units.
Also, our appliances were *original* from when the building was constructed. We were promised all new appliances several times from different managers, although when they began changing hands constantly - that fell off the charts. Our dryer barely worked and was a fire hazard, but they didn't care about our complaints about that. Our stove barely worked. Our refrigerator was not frost free, and for some reason, the freezer iced up so quickly that we could not store frozen food.
Our floors were old and falling apart in the kitchen.
Our bathroom and vanity items were all original from the date of building as well. The one bathroom was completely useless. Neither the toilet or the sink worked. They did not fix it, due to us having another bathroom! Well, we paid for two!
Our water was barely warm, let alone hot. Again, another request that never was fixed. Cold shower anyone'
We had several windows that were *broken* When the maintenance people came in to fix one, they broke the glass further, and then said they would bring a replacement window. We waited for years, sending in requests with our typical lists.. never receiving one. We had to put plastic on all our windows because of the drafts, anyway.
The hallways always smelled like something dead. This was really freaky! They didn't come clean it for a long, long time... but eventually started having someone come in to spray some kind of deodorant every week. It was then a mix of some strange chemical scent and dead stuff.
Parking was very difficult. Many people had multiple cars, (more than two) and I often had to park in a lot that was not our own.. and had to walk very far. With so many of the lights being OUT at night, it was certainly not safe.
We tried so very hard to maintain a lovely apartment, and a great relationship with the management and maintenance. We are very forgiving people.. although this went beyond what we could handle.
Please do alot of research before renting any apartment. Find out which apartment they are planning on placing you in, and speak with your possible neighbors first - and ask about any issues. Just my advice, of course not representative of Apartment Ratings.
