We lived there for over a year in the newer apartments and never felt safe from the start. There are lots of lower income apartments surrounding the area and there are lots of shady people constantly walking through the property. We keep our blinds drawn and doors locked at all times. There is no secure entry, so anyone can just walk past our front door without a thought and people would sometimes come stand and carry on right outside the apartment doors to get out of the rain or snow. We also had people run through and pull fire alarms a few times in the middle of the night. That was not thought out very well when these apartments were built. Without going into great detail, the crime in the area has been bad since we've lived there and we could not wait to get out of there. Personally, the apartment was fine- no better or worse than any other I've had. The staff and maintenance were friendly and helpful, but ultimately just want to get paid like any other company...so our complaints about neighbors got ignored. I did like how new everything was, but not at the expense of my ability to sleep at night. The only fault I've really found is the poor area in which these apartments were built and the type of people we encountered.

The crime rate is outrageous in that area. If you don't believe me, check out the demographics (crime rate for the area) at the Frederick City web site at cityoffrederick.com. It's amazing how many people in one year have gotten raped, killed, and thousands of thefts and burglaries and break-ins. Just in one year. Sounds like Baltimore and it looks like it if you lived here to see it. Not to mention the schools are very low scoring and have been Title 1 on and off for the past couple of years which means they are low performing schools, which is not too good if you have children. You can look any schools at schooldigger.com to get the ratings. If you want a quality place don't move to the Manor. Do your homework. I moved into a new house with my fiance and I thank God no longer live in the area.
