I lived in a 2bedroom / 2bath at Oakwood and it was a piece of crap that always kept falling apart.

The apartment was loaded with black mold, crappy appliances, and always required maintanence.

One day, maintenance came to my apartment to fix the air vent in the living room/hallway while I was at work and at night, I came home to find my bedroom door open with my lights on. I thought it was odd because I didn?t request anything to be done in my bedroom.

I found it odd until I realized that someone had been in there and over $5,000 of jewelery I had hidden in my dresser was stolen!!
The landlord was very unhelpful and they really didn?t care about my jewelry. I was so angry. I called the police on the issue and he said that robberies in the area were so common and that it wasn?t the first time he was out to the complex. It let me know though that it will be impossible to prove.
I was given the blow off by Oakwood - no help at all and they never even told me sorry. It made me feel like a fool and made me sound like I was a liar.

Then, to top it off, one day in January when me and my roommate were getting ready to go to work at around 7am-ish. I heard something banging the patio door. I thought it might have been a squirrel or something caught in the door. So I peak through the blinds...and there is a dark black man with a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his face trying to break into my apartment! It was so aparent that someone was home in our ground floor apartment...all the lights were on, the music was loud..we were gettig ready for work..so this guy knew someone was home...lord only knows his plans!! I screamed when I saw him and once again the cops were out there. Once again, no one was interested in hearing me!
The best part which is actually funny...Oakwood kept claiming I was imagining the situation all wrong and that perhaps the intruder was an Oakwood tennant who had a long night somewhere and he was coming home in the morning...and since all the apartments look alike...he got confused and was trying to enter the wrong one!!''' What kind of sick idiot would believe such crap'''' I guess the people in the rent office are either really dumb or they think their tennants are!!! Yeah, the next time I go out partying all Sunday night...I?m going to come home at 7am with a hood pulled over my face and break in through the patio door!!! idiots!!

This of course, was not the end of the mess. After that guy trying to break in...I had numerous times late at night when someone was knocking on the front door. I would look out the peephole and the person would jump sideways so I couldn?t see them. I really didn?t know anyone in the area...so none of my friends would just drop-by since they all had fairly long drives to my house. I had to keep calling security and have them patrol my apartment.

Additionally, to add to all this headache...the staff in the office was so rude. There?s this really rude girl named Karen who works in the office with no people skills. Once, when my lease was due to expire, I told her I was considering moving out of my 2bedroom and into a 1 bedroom...but wasn?t sure. I checked out the 1bedroom and then decided I did not want to do that...so I told her I was renewing my 2bedroom lease.

To my amazement, I got a call 2 weeks later from her asking when my stuff will be out of my apartment and that she has a tennant for my apartment'''!!!!! I told her I wasn?t moving and she got so angry and claimed I never said I was staying. Mind you, I never turned in any notice of leaving.





She started SCREAMING into the phone that she already sold my apartment and NOW WHAT IS SHE TO DO'''''''''''''''' She ended up slamming the phone on me! (I kept my apt though ;-) ).

This wasn?t the only run in with her...she was always mean...always accusing me of things...like one day I went to the office to pay my rent...and while standing there she gives me a nasty look up and down and says "Do you have a dog''" I was confused because I didn?t have a dog at all. She then proceeds to say she?s been finding dog crap around the grounds and she?s trying to find out the wrong-doer! what the f*cK''''''''

Another problem with her happened with the delivery of my Wall St. Journal in the morning. Oftentimes the paper would be delivered after I went to work. The delivery guy was incompetent and was always late..plus he threw the paper on the sidewalk in front of our building instead of on my doorstep. The paper was typically stolen, however, at one point people weren't stealing it anymore...and so it was laying in front of the building..about 15 feet from my doorstep..it had a label on it with my name on it. Well, this Karen idiot called it littering....and proceeded to call me at work and SCREAM at me about my trash laying all over the sidewalks and how if my paper is ever laying on the sidewalk again...she's going to fine me $25 for every paper she finds. I explained to her that I had told the paperboy several times not to put it in front of the building but to walk it a few more feet to my door but it was happening. She would not even hear me out and swore at me! She then screamed about the $25 again..all while talking to me while at work!

Oh, and I?d alsolike to come back to the black mold issue...the black mold in this joint was serious. Like you couldn?t get rid of it..it was everywhere. I had headaches on a daily basis...however, I never knew that anything was wrong until much later. I ended up getting a serious ear infection....kept seeing the doctor...the pain kept increasing...nothing was getting solved. Never even thought of black mold causing me health problems. Anyways, about 2 months after serious ear problems...and many doctor visits...the doctor ended up discovering my problem...there was a large cluster like 2-3 inch circle of black mold growing in my ear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! had it removed and had serious ear problems for a long time afterwards....it was so gross I can not tell you. Of course, I can?t prove Oakwood?s blame...but the house was covered in black mold. I would clean like crazy and the stuff would not go away. If I left my apartment for a week and came back my toilet would be black/brown from all the mold growing in it!!!!!
