It's not that bad

I've only lived Archstone for a little over a month and up until now everything has been good. The customer service has been outstanding, when I have put in a service request they have responded that day. The walls are thin like most apartments but I'm lucky to live in a building where it's quiet, I think the fact that I'm on the 3rd floor helps out a lot. The metro shuttle is great, I never have to drive anywhere and the location in general is great I can't wait until it gets warmer so I can walk to the Rio. The appliances are old but they work, and the comment about the hot water is true. Yes, the rent is high but you have to expect that for the location, if you think this is bad try moving closer to DC it's ridiculous! I did recieve new carpet and floors in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as a refrigerator when it died on me.
Now for the only down fall, DO NOT hesitate to ask for them to fix your front door, meaning the gap that most have between the door and the door frame/jamb. The locks aren't working to their best ability with this gap!! I moved here from NC for a job and I know no one, however two days ago I came home from work to find my door busted open. I freaked out because this is the first time I have lived somewhere without a roommate and I had no idea who even knew I lived here. I immediately called 911 and carefully searched my apartment. Luckily the burglar seemed to only be looking for money and he tore up my bedroom only taking a lock box containing credit cards and personal information. The service guy fixed the door to the best of his ability while the police were there. The door was kicked in easier because of the fact that the locks in the first place barely connected to the jamb. I'm not sure if the door was just warped or worn down. Now sadly the only person that definietly knew I wasn't home was the Comcast service guy who called me several times earlier that day saying he was in the area and wanted me to call him back if I was getting home early eventhough my appointment was scheduled for later that night. Unfortunately I was at work all day and didn't check my messages until I was on my way home. I don't want to accuse anyone but the police said that this wouldn't be the first case that Service/Delivery guys have broken into homes. They know your schedule because most of us say "don't come until this time, I'll be at work until..." So eventhough Archstone is telling me that I'm the first case, which I doubt; just don't give anyone more info than they need and don't trust anyone.
I just wanted to pass this police information onto everyone because I wish I would've been smart and thought about this before I had my sense of safety taken away.

I'm trying to rent from this apartment, but my downfall is BAD CREDIT, everything else that they'll need to check is GOOD...anyway, I was wondering are they understanding? Has anyone ran into a problem renting with BAD credit? I would really love to live here.
