I never renewed my lease. However, a few days before I moved out, they told me that I am required to give them 60 days notice before I can leave.
Yes, I am not allowed to leave my apartment, even after my lease expires. So now I'm stuck with two apartments to pay for.
Archstone WILL try to find any and all legal ways to extort money from you

a lot of apartment complexes ask that you DO give them about 60 days to inform them that you will not be renewing your lease. even private renters do that.
