I have lived in Brighton Village for 2 years and have not been impressed at all. My biggest complaint is the poor construction of the buildings. Sound is a serious issue as the walls and floors seem to be paper thin. Also my apartment had a terrible draft that caused my utility bills to be high. In the winter time there was a constant cold breeze coming from the windows and from under the sliding glass door. Another problem is that the front doors to the buildings and apartments are very heavy and have no arresting system on them. The apartment doors are heavy enough that when my neighbors would let their door slam shut my entire apartment would shake as if there had been an earthquake. I also had problems with bugs every spring and summer. They were mainly earwigs but I also had a few roaches and have heard other residents complain of wasps. The office staff acts like they could care less about you and are very unfriendly. Maintenance is hit or miss. Problems inside my apartment were usually solved quickly but the handle on the front door of my building was ALWAYS broken. Repeated complaints about this to the office were ignored and the maintenace staff just kept putting the same broken pieces back on the door just to have them break apart again a few days later. My last complaint is that managment requires 60 days notice to move out, this is a bit excesive and can cause problems if you are trying to buy a house.
