Pretty Solid Place

I lived in Brighton for the past year but am now in a new place--mainly because of better location. My stay at Brighton went pretty well.
While many below are knocking the office staff, I always found them extremely nice, both before and after signing the lease. All rent checks were paid in person so as to get the receipt, and all maintenance requests were placed in person. They were always responsive and otherwise on the ball. Most--if not all--of my maintenance requests were taken care of same day.
The occasional bug got into my place, but nothing more than should be expected. Definitely not enough to be even worth mentioning--just wanted to counter some of the negative experiences below.
Parking was great, though visitors will need to park outside the complex since you need a parking pass (you can get a special pass, but it's annoying). The little forest area behind the apartments was also fun to walk/run. Garbage areas were plentiful. I don't think I once ever heard apartment neighbors. All apartments are behind a secured door, which is good for security but annoying for anyone coming over/delivering food. The call box they are supposed to use rarely seemed to work whatsoever.
There was the occasional paperwork mix-up, so as always make sure you get a copy of anything you sign. I don't really fault Brighton for this--mistakes happen, and you should be getting documentation on anything you're spending this much on.
One freak negative experience related to my furnace. On its first use on a snowy night, it caught fire. Fire department came over and all that. There was no damage done to the apartment because the furnace was out on the balcony enclosed in a small room and the fire was caught quickly. But on the plus side, maintenance had a new furnace fully installed in less than 24 hours.
Laundry sucks since there are two washers/dryers for 12 apartments. Laundry must be paid with a little card that you have to put money on at one of two locations--annoying if you just want to get a load done at odd hours (the hours when they are usually free). And of course, there is no way to get money off the cards.
The gym is ok, if crowded, if you just want to do cardio stuff (TVs built into each machine). It sucks if you want to use weights though. They have one bench/shoulder press machine, one leg machine, and one universal machine. Often these are all taken.
Before I was leaving, many holes in the wall were left from adhesive. Before the move-out, staff/maintenance came by to inspect the apartment and let us know that if these weren't fixed it'd probably come off the security deposit. I bought some spackle and matched the wall paint at Home Depot, and a reasonable job was done on the walls (nothing professional at all). I got back my entire security deposit, less the money charged for losing my gym cards (25 bucks a pop)--despite a few carpet stains (not sure how bad the poster below's carpet was stained).
So yeah, when you move in make sure to document what's wrong. Get copies of everything. Probably helps to make requests in person. Make sure you actually read the lease and know what you're signing up for (for example, you need to give 2 months notice before your lease expires that you're leaving). All of this though applies to everywhere you live. Overall, quite a good stay. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7
