I start to suspect that some of the trash that is bounced out of here has access to a computer. Too many lies when there is enough truth to complain about.
Rats' No rats. Never, not one anywhere and I have walked the entire complex at night. Yes, it is safe enough that my wife and I can walk it at night. Mice' Yes, on occasion. Guess what' We keep a trap set in the utility closet and we get maybe one every two months. The trick here is to act when you have a small problem and it doesn't turn into a big one. I know of people here who have had larger problems with mice but it turns out they never notify mgt or try to stop the problem before it gets out of hand. And they leave food out. Duh.
Roaches' I won't live with roaches. Period.
Garbage' Yep. It's a problem because too many people are too lazy to make sure the bags go into the dumpster. However, it is cleaned up every day except for weekends. Some people decide to throw the junk mail in the floor of the hallways. They then get letters from a very proactive mgt telling them to stop or leave.
Noise' Please, I have never lived anywhere quieter. Solid brick walls with solid concrete floors in-between the apartments. Of course, every couple of months a new tenant moves in and thinks they can blast the stereo. A call to on-premises security solves the problem in less then 10 minutes. Only had a second occurrence of noise once, that person no longer lives here. However, that person may now have access to a computer and left one of the nasty grams posted here. Some evenings there are neighbors out in the courtyard and several will play their guitar. I guess if a person was walking near and really hated Spanish music they could complain. And if they did, security would stop the music.
Mgt' That one got me. This mgt team answers to the corporate bosses at Homeproperties. If they ever did or did not do half of what is said here they would be canned. Complaints are answered fully, and if action is needed it is taken. And that includes evicting some of the people that move in here and think they can do whatever they want.
Safety' My family feels completely safe. I was out-of-country for a month and never felt very worried, which is totally surprising for living in the DC area. The pathetic claim of being afraid walking in daylight was bunk. Pure bunk. Neighbors are mostly nice or just quiet and have knocked on our door when we left our windows down in the rain.
So how about some truth.
The complaint about not controlling the AC/Heat' Partial bunk. The heat and AC are both piped in from a central unit. You can turn both on and off at your pleasure, but your bill is based upon usage of the entire complex. It doesn't benefit you to try to conserve, so there are some that don't. And that burns me to the point of complaining (to no avail) to the City. Seems every complex in the state is doing it and they love the extra money put in their pocket out of mine. And they don't call it a rent increase. But, it is in every complex here, so since leaving the state is not an option, we deal with it.
The snow removal in winter is getting better, but the people here had a habit (previous manager) of burying the cars with the plowed snow. That was infuriating.
Lots of kids here, but I have never seen cars damaged or broken windows. In three years, I have not seen or heard of one popped window or car broken into.
Taken as a whole and compared to what else is available within 15 miles at a comparative cost - and every time they raise the rent, I DO go looking - but, after seeing the truly trashy, dangerous places available, we have stayed.
I would like to know the building numbers of the complainers, maybe there is a side I just never saw. I would think in 3 years I have seen it all though and what was said was just not true. I live in the 182XX buildings. Come look for yourself. Come at night and take a walk around. Is it perfect' No. Is it homeownership' No. It's an apartment complex and you will sometimes get lousy neighbors. But at least here, you have a complaint system you can count on to act.

Hey, your not far from me, I'm 183XX...maybe you should come by my apartment and see my roaches....it's no where near as bad as when I first moved in (because I called the health department and they spent weeks cleaning it), and if your lucky I'll show you were some of the mold is, but they have gotten most of it up when I issued them with a doctor's note saying that the mold was affecting my eyes...and your right about the management, everyone there is wonderful expect for gloria, i know she can't wait for me to leave because I named her to homeproperties about how she wouldn't return my phone calls. You right about the trash, it's usually clean around there expect for the people who live on the bottom floor, they throw all of there trash into my backyard (I'm think it's the kids because I have seen them actually back there before, I told the management and there was nothing they could do about it.) I have never seen anyone break into cars but the people sure do run into them alot...also people park in the middle of two parking spots...I had them towed.

this guy must be smoking the stuff that is being sold everynight throughout the complex (i.e. parking lot, courtyard, stairwells). he's so high that he thinks that cider mill is a livable community. or maybe he is one of those people on the sexual offender's list that is very excited about all the children running around unsupervised.
the only thing that i can figure, is that he is either one of those things listed above, or is being paid by the management to write these things.
mold is a major issue---you find it while trying to catch the mice or remove all the bugs.

I have lived at Cider mill for almost a decade, because for certain reasons I am not able to move elsewhere. This place USED TO BE nice... about 4 years ago. YOU must live in a part of the complex that faces the front!!! EVERYTHING people say about the place IS true. Get off the crack dude... oh look, there goes your dealer....
