terrible, and new management is making it even worse

Moving into Grove Park was one of the biggest mistake I've ever made. Every time the neighbours upstairs walk around it sounds like the ceiling is going to come crashing down on us. If you want to avoid this, get an apartment on the 3rd floor, but it will cost you extra. Even then, the walls are so thin that you will be able to hear your neighbour's television loud and clear.
The new owners run the place like slum lords. At one point, because of a simple misunderstanding, I paid the bulk of the rent on the 6th of the month instead of the first. Despite assurances from the leasing office that everything was fine, two and a half weeks later I recieved trial papers demanding that I show up in court because of failure to pay rent. I felt like they were treating me like a criminal. When I went to the leasing office about the issue, they were far from apologetic. Although they said I did not need to show up in court since the rent was already paid, they also said that this is what happens when you're late on your rent payments. Meanwhile I get pamphlets from Grove Park saying things like "We're so glad you're here." If you care about your credit rating, DO NOT LIVE HERE!
Like everyone had been saying, the neighbourhood is ghetto. The local newspapers frequently report on crime in the area. Stangers in the parking lot will accost you frequently, trying to hit you up for cash. They will say that they lost their ATM card and they need gas, or that they need money to visit their sick grandmother, and three months later they will come around again with the same excuses.
Be warned, if you have a pet, I have heard that the new management is charging a $350 upfront fee, a $250 pet deposit, and an additional $35 a month.
In conclusion, if you know someone that you really really hate, recommend this place to them.
