First Few Month's Experiences

I have been living here for a while now so I will express some of my thoughts before they are forgotten.

Generally pretty peaceful in my building. I have never heard any noise between the walls, televisions blaring or phones ringing. You will get the occasional screaming children who are playing outside but that is about it. One thing that does bother me is when I go to sleep at night, the 'utility closet' where the water heater and such is located clicks on and off during the night which jars me awake since it is in the bedroom. My solution was to keep the a/c off at night. Saves some money on utilities as well. Not too much of a big deal though.

The apartment itself is roomy enough for my needs since I am living alone (I have the "Dogwood" floorplan). You have the fridge, oven, dishwasher, washer & dryer combo included. Another great thing is you get one assigned parking space in the parking garage that is included. If you want more than one space, it is $25 bucks extra. I had one issue when I moved in that needed repair but it was resolved in a day of my notification to the office and was fixed properly. The maintenence also apologized to me that they did not catch it before I moved in which I thought was nice.

They seem to have a problem with small, very tiny ants in the buildings though. They admitted this to me before I moved in so I was aware of it. However if you request it, they will exterminate whenever you want. I don't think it is a super major problem and it is not like you see them constantly in your apartment, just once in a while (at least for me that is true).

I feel pretty safe here, but I am still a little weary of going down the stairs at night because some people especially on the weekends, will sit on the stairs and smoke and drink. Also I will see people in the parking garage at night smoking and drinking while they sit on the ledges. I have not had any "run-ins" with the other residents but that's because I just don't go down to get my mail when it is late if I forgot to get it earlier, or come home very late driving back.

The people in the rental office are pretty good. The only one that bothers me is Michael. Whenever I have dealt with him to get packages, pay rent, ask a question, etc, he always has this attitude that screams "my job sucks and I don't want to be here just go away please". That and he has this duhhhh kind of expression on his face which leads me to believe he doesn't know what he is doing half the time. Lastly he has asked me some personal questions now and again that I don't think is any of his business. Maybe he is just trying to make conversation; I don't know but I really don't appreciate dealing with him. Unfortunately he seems to be down there a lot and I cringe when I have to deal with him.

The dumpster area is emptied everyday and only once was it very unbearable to go beyond that gate to dispose of my trash (bags piled up very high in the walkway, liquids spilled, etc). It stinks but trash usually does stink anyway. It is far away enough from the buildings (not near mine though) so I don't think anyone would be able to smell the trash that far. When I first moved in I was not certain of where I was supposed to dispose of my trash at the dumpster area. It was explained to me but it would have been more helpful if they took the time to actually SHOW me since I wound up asking someone I saw in the building during the day. I have had other new residents confused on this matter as well so I have shown them where to go. Whenever I see someone looking lost and confused, chances are they can't find the dumpster. (btw it is at the Lee St entrance behind a wooden fenced in area).

As for their pet policy, I find it ridiculous, but I had to have a place that allowed me to have a cat and this one was the least ridiculous that I could determine in the area. You have to pay a $300 pet deposit AND $25 extra per pet (dogs and cats), per month in addition to your rent. As long as you have a cat or dog you have to pay that extra fee per month (if you have birds, fish, gerbil, etc they don't charge for those I was told). I can understand that after your lease is up they may have to do "extra cleaning" because of the fur and whatnot (though I vacuum my apartment regularly), and they may think the animal will destroy things (but my cat is declawed), I just find it a bit excessive, especially per pet, per month fee. Sure they say they are pet friendly, but only if you pay the price for it.

They have a pool you can use on site, club house, exercise room; but I have not made any use of those while I have lived here thus far. So I can't really evaluate those features. I was mainly interested in this complex for its covered assigned garage parking, washer & dryer in the apartment, and location which I am satisfied with. Overall I have had a very good experience living here thus far except for the few quirky things. It is a decent value for what you do get if you are looking for an apartment in this area this is great.
