Lousy maintenance management

The apartment itself is fine. It is a tiny apartment, but this is the largest floor plan in the complex, but I knew this when I moved in. It reminds me of a Barbie dollhouse, tiny & self-contained. I do like the little washer/dryer in the apt.

Maintenance is almost non-existent. My move-in inspection has not yet been addressed. 1st week I moved in, the maintenance man came & confirmed all the broken items, like the broken hanging light fixture in the dinning room, so the dining room light has never worked, hanging fire sprinkler in the bedroom that a part had to be ordered for and remains broken. Maintenance also fixed the then broken window locks and said they would return in about a week when the various parts were due in; they never returned to fix anything else, to date.

Because of my job, Im out of the apartment for days to a week at a time, & then I come in and leave for work in the wee hours of the night/morning, so if it is noisy or anything it ha not bothered me. I have been getting ready for work around 3-4 AM a several times & heard what sounded like little kids running back & forth from room to room above me, but I was up so it doesnt bother me. I suppose if I were asleep, that may be an issue.

My high speed internet with Comcast didnt work for over 6 months I had over 9 Comcast technicians & supervisors from Comcast come to my apartment & leave & said they couldnt fix it because management refused to allow them into the apartment above to fix the drop line that resides in all the terrace closets. Management was totally useless with this and some of my above neighbors allowed Comcast to enter & check the signal, but the tenants above me said no, because they didnt have cable, and management refused to allow access to the porch terrace. I asked management why did they advertise high-speed internet access when they were clueless about it, & mine wasnt working & why did they allow Comcast on premise but not allow maintenance of Comcasts equipment. Canterbury Management advised me that my contract was with Comcast for internet, not Canterbury and Canterbury had no involvement with internet whatsoever and they wouldnt allow the cable to be run another route, to give me access to internet. (False advertisement).

Luckily, one day those neighbors air-conditioned was flooding down to my apartment & emergency had to be called & Comcast was here & the residents had to be called from work to the apartment & after much begging & pleading with the residents, and since they were moving out in a few days, they allowed access to their cable wire in their outside closet & Comcast repaired where my cable had been tapped into causing my modem to loose its signal strength. Again, no thanks to Canterbury management.

I was also told I could pay my rent online, since I found the apartment & viewed it, online, which turned out to be false. Because of my work schedule, I am not here when management is in the office, so I had to take the day off to meet with them during their office hours. They are nice enough, personally, but this is not much of a professional, efficient operation.

Their website claims they will credit rent for the time they are supposed to have completed maintenance from the day they promised to the day they fix it problem. They should owe me over a years rent, since my move-in faults have not been fixed, and from reading this ratings site, they owe others rental credits as well. For almost $1200. per month Canterbury could at least give the residents what we are paying for and that is the enjoyment of the apartment as it should be intact, and with trouble-free maintenance.

I would not recommend anyone who wants hassle free renting, where the property is well managed, to move into Canterbury. Canterbury has not addressed my maintenance defects in a timely manner and from what Ive read her, may not address yours either. So renter beware, this is not value for your money.
