I'd say about ever 2-3 months you get a letter from the main office about break-ins, car vandalism, and theft from vehicles. The apartment community is big, so it s not like it happens in front of your apartment on a regular basis but it happens. I'd say 15% of the apartment complex is set aside for SEC 8 housing and 5% is set aside for police. Parents generally let their kids roam the complex unattended, and kids will be kids, so there's sometimes an issue with that. A lot of people have dogs (all of them seem very friendly). You have to realize there are about 700 families living in this complex so you re always going to have your bad apples and problems, but with that, I have people that live next to me that have become friends and we hang out too. These are not houses, so you will have to deal with noise, people hanging outside to all hours of the night, ECT... (Not all the time, but it will happen). Maintenance staff is great, ever an issues it s usually fixed the next day. If I had to rate this out of 5 I give it a 2.7 . ONE IMPORTANT FACT! YOUR ELECTRIC BILL WILL BE HIGH! EVERY ONES IS! THESE APARTMENTS ARE VERY ENERGY INEFFICIENT IN THE WINTER, PLAN ON A $200.00 BILL FOR AT LEAST 5 OF THE WINTER MONTHS(summers not bad, its like $65.00). ASK ANY RESIDENT GOING INTO THE LEASING OFFICE WHEN YOUR TAKING A LOOK AT THE APARTMENTS. PLAN FOR IT!

Wow, that's a heck of an electric bill! I lived there from 2000-2006 and ours wasn't more than about $70 or so, even in the winter. Granted, we WERE on the 4th floor, which would be warmer in the winter, but even in the summer, with running the AC and never, EVER opening the windows, our bills weren't that high.
If they are still using Allegheny, what you and the others concerned with this matter might want to do is ask them to get on the budget plan. I think they have some figure they give you based on the usage of the building, and somehow it comes out cheaper than what a normal customer is paying. It was set up for us when we moved there, and I'm not completely sure of the terms, but it might be worth a shot. Good luck!

i wouldn't live there simply for the kids and who'mever roaming the parking lot all hours of the night.it's senseless!!my complex used to enforce a no loitering rule at nights that prevented this but now they've gone the way of the typical section 8 who cares direction.it's ridiculous that people are hanging on the property at 1,2 and 3am and later..the only way to combat this is to call the police every single night.the management in these kinds opf places certainly don't care
