My husband and I were very excited to move into the Elms at Germantown as it was our first place together. Our summer was crazy with planning a wedding and starting a new job but The Elms made it that much more stressful.

When we moved in we discovered that the line had been run wrong and we couldn't get cable, phone or internet for close to a month which made planning a wedding very hard! The staff were slow to respond but quick to make excuses.

We also had multiple problems with our AC during the summer and it probably took about 5 trips from maintenance until it was fixed.

We started to wonder how certain tenants were able to make the high rent when they don't appear to work or they have very low paying jobs. One of our first requirements was that the area be safe and upstanding so we tend to look at the type of cars and people around. For the most part everyone seems to be nice and respectful except for a group of woman who are rather trashy and constantly need drama-I thought I left that in high school and college!

We live in a loft apartment on the fourth floor which we thought would be good for the noise but the neighbors below us tend to blare their music. After asking nicely and writing several letters, we talked to management but it's been over 2 months and they continue to make excuses for the noise. We understand that there will be a level of noise during the day but to wake up to thumping base or try to fall asleep at 11:30 pm to it is really annoying. Our next step is to call the police the next time we are disturbed because the staff doesn't seem to care when it comes to keeping tenants.

We are currently looking for another apartment in the area with a lower rent because the rent at The Elms will be increasing by $70 come spring. We also would like to find an apartment that is dog friendly and offers a discount for teachers.

I would recommend The Elms if you are fortunate enough to not have any major issues that requires the assistance of the staff and or maintenance.

your neighbors volunteered their salaries to you? You are judging people by the types of cars they drive? I weep for our children if all teachers think as you do.

actually, i can understand where you are coming from with these maintenance issues, etc. i live in kingsview village which used to be the elms, but now taken over by another management company, which is worse! the staff here are horribly rude (1 in particular) and we get no responses to our needs. i actually wish it were the elms again! also, safety is becoming an issue now, when that was our most important aspect of apartment hunting. we are looking to move out too!
