Bad, bad, bad!!!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
I've lived there for 5 months from August of 2003 thru December and it has been total nightmare. First when I signed the lease, they told me that I have to move-in within 5 days or I would possibly lose the apartment (I never had an apartment telling me when I have to move-in by).
Things that required repair when I moved in:
- Leaky kitchen faucet (they tried to fix it 3-4 times by replacing the spring inside the faucet, but was not able to...and finally got the whole faucet replaced.
- Shower head in both bathroom were not working correctly.
- Light switches were not connected to any plug-ins in two of the bedrooms. They came out and told us that it was bad wiring!
- Moldy baseboard under the sink in kitchen. The baseboard under the sink in kitchen was so badly deformed (sunk in the middle), we were not able to put anything in there.
- High humidity, moldy smell. The first day I walked into the apartment, I smelled mold and carpet was damped. I thought the carpet didn't dry out from carpet shampoo and I had few days before the move so I left all windows open (remember that I had to move into the apartment within 5 days of the signing the lease). The whole time I was there, the humidity problem never went away. I was forced to buy dehumidifier which trapped 20-30 pints of water a day! My 2 year old son started to develop respiratory problems (coughing and waking up to cry on nightly basis). His doctor finally recommended that we move away from the apartment as soon as possible.
And there was water heater problem... We had 3 incidents in 5 months. First one was in August (same month we moved-in), we had leak from the pipe going into the water heater which they replaced the pipe going into the water heater and also replaced the water heater. During this incident, they left the damped carpet in my unit for 5 days before removing the carpet out of the unit (they didn't come back because it was weekend). In late October, I noticed that the carpet around the water heater was soaked and called for the repair. They asked us to remove everything out of the closet so they can take the wall out. It turned out that there was a pipe inside the wall that was leaking but took another week before they were done with this repair. In mid-November, I discovered again that the carpet was soaked around the water heater. This time, it turned out that the water heater that was replaced back in August was defect and leaking water.
The managers' didn't seem to be concerned with welfare of the people living in the unit and told me that I had a streak of bad lucks! They let us out of the lease without penalty but we are very displeased with the way the situation was handled and we've hired an attorney to seek damage settlement.
