I lived in that complex from early '01 until recently. I'd say the first 1/2 of that time I thought I really had a good thing going. Nice grounds, nice gym equipment, nice people....
Something changed.
I started hearing more and more rumors of vandalism and burglary, then I started seeing the vandalism for myself, mostly in the form of spray painting or broken signs, torn up shrubs, and that sort of thing. Then personal property damage. A guy's boat cover got cut and the boat had F--- YOU painted on it's side. Stuff like that.
Besides that, a general trashiness started taking root in the area. People tossing litter and beer cans all over, pot smoking paraphenalia found on a regular basis, ground under some balconies white with cigarette butts. It's like the whole type of person who lives there went from normal to complete trash.
Oh and this little gem just in: I guess someone's been lighting the dumpsters on fire lately. Needless to say, I'm glad I moved out. If you are even THINKING of moving in here, ask some very bold questions about what types of problems, what type of people, how many assisted living units they have, etc. You have to go home to it every day, so don't be blunt. Better yet, drive around and ask a few residents !
