I've been at Milestone for almost 4 years and have had an average experience. As noted by others, the apartments are not well insulated. My gas bill is high in the winter ($100 ) with the thermostat set at 62 during the day and overnight and 65-68 when I'm home and awake (causing it to run constantly). Heating has similar problems. The grounds are decently kept, except that lots of people don't feel the need to pick up after their apparently large dogs. It's pretty gross and frustrating since I have a dog and do pick up after her. Management has had a high turnover and sometimes persistence is necessary to get things done. I had a problem with my hot water for about 3 months. Fortunately I was able to stay at a friends house and was on vacation some during the iterative fixes. If I hadn't been, I would have called more often and maybe it would have been fixed sooner. It took them about 4 visits of trial and error to get it fixed. Generally maintenance is fairly responsive though. The office staff is pretty friendly, but rather clueless. Twice I had slips that packages were left at the office and they insisted that they couldn't find them. I was able to find each in the little package closet after they failed to be able to. Lastly, my rent increased by over $300/month the second time I re-signed my lease. After minor increases after the first lease term, new management decided I wasn't paying enough and that they would increase my rent by 28% to "bring me up to market price." While I thought it unreasonable, I stayed because the overall cost of moving (new deposits, amenity fees, a truck, etc) was going to be similar to the increase and I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. It's not the nicest place in the county, but my guess is that it's about on par with other average communities in the area.
