I am a single girl living on her own for the first time and chose SC because of its proximity to 270, ride-on bus access, relativey "low" rent, and washer/dryer in the apartment. I've never felt unsafe, although the lighting outdoors is atrocious. I complained 6-10 times and was finally told it wasn't a Stonecreek problem, but rather the electric company. They finally fixed the burnt out bulbs but the lighting is so low that I admit I do feel a bit wary at night.
Parking never used to be a problem, but the complex is currently 98% full so sometimes I do have to park farther away. I've always been able to find a spot though.
Odd thing is the apartments slant. Everything in them does too -- the windows are cockeyed. I hope it's not sinking! It's just peculiar. They are currently repainting (thank goodness) the exterior. They looked so shabby before, and I'm sure that's why these apts are often overlooked. I do hope it's something other than boring tan this time.
I've had a few silverfish but never noticed mice or some of the other problems other people have complained about. However, there are MAJOR issues with BEES. Or maybe they are hornets, you know those huge black ones that chase you' They must munch on the wood. And as SC is wood, the bees love it. I can't even sit on my balcony for fear of bees, wasps, etc. I complained twice and both times the exterminator was out the next day. But he said they couldn't do anything due to the face that all the apts are wood. at least they came out. Also, beware of SQUIRRELS. they chew and nest in the walls you hear them! I haven't heard them in a few weeks though; maybe they moved elsewhere.
The staff is adequate, though there's a high turnover. I guess that's normal at apt complexes though. They've usually responded quickly to maintenance problems, which have been minor. And they leave you a note so you know they were in there. They also send you a feedback form via email after each work order. I think they really do read these.
So overall, if you can't afford the pricier Rockville apts, this is a good place. Would I move to Pinnacle or Milestone' Absolutely in a heartbeak. But for now, this suit me fine.
Good points: no ammenity fee, w/d in unit, close to EVERYTHING. I can walk to movies, shops, etc; ride-on bus right there; very close to 270; very nice apartment layoutp rent is good for montgomery co.; allow pets
Bad points: outside appearance is shoddy, though they are remedying that by repainting this summer; older apartments so cabinets, etc are in need of renovation; lighting; some shady neighbors
