When stuff breaks, be prepared to wait...

When we moved in there were sharp pieces of glass and metal on the kitchen floor from when the carpet was replaced. The closet, bedroom, and bathroom doors did not close (and the bathroom one still doesn't). The peep hole was broken and I had to bother them for a week to have it fixed. Our dryer didn't work and we were told for 3 weeks that it would be fixed "tomorrow"- we eventually forced the management to allow us to use the washer and dryer in an empty unit. When they did replace the dryer they got grease stains all over the carpet and my fiance had to help move it out because they only sent one guy (the dryer was at least 30 years old and weighed a ton!). Over the winter, we had squirrels in our ceiling. We had a mini-blind break and when they replaced it with a used one, they dripped bleach (which they used to clean it) all over the carpet. The seal on the freezer broke and we were told the part would be ordered... a week later, after I contacted the office, I received a call saying they had ordered us a new refrigerator and it would be in by the end of the week. It took a total of two weeks for us to get a new fridge because the complex manager won't allow maintanence to keep any appliances except water heaters in stock. When we did get one, the maintanence people marked up the walls trying to get the old one out. The doors were also on the wrong way and we were told they would come back the next day to fix it. We eventually got fed up when they didn't come and attempted to do it ourselves. The paint job is terrible (although they are at most apartment complexes), the couters are falling apart and have been painted over rather than replaced. Few of the windows stay open on their own because the clips that should keep them up are broken. The car wash station is a joke because there is no water pressure and the hose nozzle is broken. Any time someone walks up or down the stairs outside it sounds like our wall is going to cave in. On the plus side, there is plenty of parking, we rarely hear our neighbors when they're in their own apartments, and the neighborhood is pretty quiet.
