Avoid this community at all costs!

Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2002
I have never experienced service as dismal and uncaring as that provided by the Stonecreek Club staff. In June of 2001, we had a leak in our air conditioning unit that ruined some things that were stored in a nearby closet, including a dhurrie rug that was recently cleaned. I negotiated with the then-manager (they have been through several) for a $100 reimbursement for the value of the rug. One year and 3 months and untold phone calls and letters later, I am STILL waiting for the $100. I have never been rude or nasty, just patient and persistent, and what is most upsetting is that they will NEVER return a phone call. They usually do not answer the phone, you must leave a message, and they absolutely will not return a call. When we moved out (thank God), it took months of calls and reminders to get our security deposit back. I had to go pick it up finally, and was calmly told that it had been ready for weeks; no one had bothered to put it in the mail!! 3 months after we moved out, we were still receiving water bills from the utility management company; Stonecreek management had neglected to inform them that we had moved. I had to GO THERE IN PERSON AGAIN because I despaired of ever getting a response on the phone in order to ask them for a written statement for my records showing that they had indeed informed the management company that we had moved. While I lived there, the complex was painted (very badly) and TWICE I came home to find that my door and railing were wet with paint (this was weeks after the original painting took place) and no one ever put up "wet paint" signs, so on one of these occasions, I ruined a pair of shorts, and on another, my handbag. When we moved in in April of 99, we had a damaged mirror in the bathroom; it was noted on our move-in inspection as an item that should be fixed within 10 days of our move-in. The mirror remained as is until we moved out in June 2002. In July 2001, a young girl was sexually assaulted in the apartment complex across the street (no fault of Stonecreek). I called and stopped by the management office and suggested that they distribute a safety awareness sheet reminding residents to ask "who is it" before opening doors, to ask for id from those claiming to be service personnel, etc. I was concerned for the many school-age children living in the community. No response at all to my suggestion. We were thrilled to buy our house and get out of this terrible place, and would strongly recommend avoiding it to anyone who is apartment-hunting. There are plenty of nice communities in the area. In fact, I would avoid AIMCO communities period; I have also tried (mostly in vain) to get assistance in resolving my issues with the AIMCO staff, and they are no better than the Stonecreek community management.
