I visited the property with hopes of moving there. I figured that since I have had a wonderful experience with other properties managed by the same company, that this would also be a nice place. The exterior of the property was decent with tall shady trees. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! FIRST, while driving through the property to get to the vacant unit I noticed that there were quite a bit of trash on the ground including empty bottles, burger wrappers and the like. I thought to myself okay maybe since it is a holiday weekend the trash collecters are not working. SECOND, the first unit that the leasing agent (three months new to the company) showed me seemed to be okay...that is until I opened the dishwasher. I noticed that there was some food residue AND two, maybe three hatched roach eggs! Although I didn't say anything, I KNEW THEN that I was NOT going to lease there. So the young consultant asked me if I would be interested in seeing another unit. I said just to make her feel good I'd go ahead and look at the other unit. THAT unit looked much better, that is until I OPENED THE FRIDGE!!!!!! Before opening the fridge, I opened the dishwasher...it was clean. AS SOON AS I OPENED THE BOTTOM DOOR OF THE FRIDGE......OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 MAYBEY 6 ROACHES SCATTERED FROM UNDERNEATH THE INSULATING RUBBER. I turned to the leasing agent and told her ROACHES IN THE FRIDGE' I AM READY TO GO!!!! I DON'T NEED TO SEE ANYTHING ELSE. THE WORST THING ABOUT THAT EXPERIENCED, IS THAT SHE DID NOT SEEM TO BE THE LEAST BIT SHOCKED. I looked at other Maryand Management properties in the area and was realy impressed. This is undoubtedly the worst and only negative experience I have had with MM.

Thank God you did not decide to rent. We found about dead bodies and RATS after we moved in. You are smart to look in the appliances before you sign. I was not allowed to see our apartment before we signed. I should have known

I am the Manager of Americana Southdale Apartments. I am not sure what happened on the day that the prospect saw the roaches. I inspect every apartment before the keys are given to the leasing consultants to show. I inspect every cabinet, refrigerator, dishwasher, etc. I did not see any bugs when I inspected these apartments. We certainly do not have a bug problem. Apartment living is very demanding and we do retain an exterminator that visits the property bi weekly. We put every vacant apartment on the list as a precaution. If a resident sees any type of bug all they have to do is call the office and they are added to the list. I feel we are very proactive in keeping the apartments as clean and sanitary as possible.
