Don't move here!

I've lived here for 4 years and all I can say is, I must be a glutten for punishment. However, there are a *few* good reasons for living here (though they are probably outweighed by the bad). The apartments are nice and roomy, hardwood floors, big walk-in closets, big eat-in kitchens with a window (though limited cabinet space; this complex was built in the 70s and it shows), and it's right on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. Unfortunately, the bad is starting to outweigh the good. To start with, in four years I have *never* had anyone from the leasing office call me back when I've left a message, EVER; it takes forever to get repairs made; the smell of dog poop permeates the entire complex; the trash bins are usually always overflowing; the pier is full of litter and used by people who don't even live here; the walls are so thin you can hear the television in the apartment beside you; the rental office's bookkeeeping skills are so lacking that you may receive a late-rent/eviction notice when you have the canceled checking PROVING you paid on time; one month you're told you have to suddenly start paying for trash-pickup, then the next month you don't; one month you're told they will start charging for the extra storage area use, and then they decide not to bill you; one month you are only paying for gas heating and suddenly the next month you are paying for gas for hot water also. The turnover in the leasing office is embarrassing. You see longer-term employees at fast-food restaurants. Rent keeps increasing every year, but the service keeps decreasing. The amount of rent paid is seemingly totally arbitrary--one so-called waterfront 1-bedroom apartment may run $730 while another runs $720 and one that isn't waterfront runs $735. And in the four years I've lived here I've yet to take a shower in which the water stayed HOT the entire time. And forget completely about taking a shower in the morning unless you don't mind a cold one. Oh, and forget about snow removal. The blizzard the weekend of President's Day left nearly everyone housebound because snow removal was so inadequate as to be laughable. Parking lots were unplowed and the sidewalks were dangerous. There *was* no full snow removal; Mother Nature did the snow removing when it finally warmed up. So, in short, if you're a masochist who must live on the water and don't mind paying $720 and upwards to "enjoy" nonexistence service and maintenance, the wonderful odor of dog poop and overflowing trash, this is the place for you!
