HUGE rent hike implemented

Imagine my shock when I got my lease renewal and the rent is being increased close to $100 a month. I've been here 6 years, and I've never had an increase that high. The average (I'm in a one-bedroom, third-floor end unit) increase until now has been around $40-$45. I wouldn't mind such a hike, perhaps, if we were getting value for our dollar. But we aren't. The answer I was given for the rent hike was basically it's a result of years of inefficiency from the various leasing office management people. In other words, tenants are paying the price for mismanagement. (Isn't that a familiar story!)
The leasing office has an embarrassing turnover problem, messages left at the office are rarely returned (which even the office acknowledged in last month's letter they sent out to everyone), and good luck getting routine maintenance. My screen door has needed to be replaced for FOUR years now. I've had a rusted-through faucet in my bathroom tub that still hasn't been replaced, though I mentioned it for the first time THREE years ago, and they promised they'd replace it "within the month." Yeah right. I finally gave up asking.
There is also a huge parking problem. THERE IS NO PLACE TO PARK. We've developed a parking problem in the last few months. If you get home behind 5 pm, or go back out again after that time, you might have to park 4 buildings away. It's happened to me twice.
Seriously people, there are cheaper and better places to live. Don't settle for this place. Go somewhere that treats you with respect.
And if someone reading these reviews doesn't believe all the negative reviews, I challenge you to actually visit the complex. Talk to the people who live here -- choose 2 apartments, at random, from the various buildings in the complex, and visit at least 4 buildings. You'll see for yourself that the problems people here speak of are not exaggerations.
I also think all tenants disgusted with this complex, and the rent hikes, write editorials to the local newspapers. Let's let everyone know what an appalling place this complex is.
