In my short time with Gatewater Landing apartments I have encountered many inconveniences! The first being, the parking situation. My friends always complained of not having a place to park. They only give a limited number of spaces to guests and there are more than enough parking spaces for everyone. There were times I came home, later than others, to discover that all the guest parking spots had been taken but over 75 non-guest parking spots were still available. Some people might say, who cares that the guest parking spots have been taken' Well, you will when your friend says, he or she are never coming over again , because his car just got towed in the half an hour he was there. Bottom line, there needs to be more parking available to everyone.

That s not all, oh no .. Then there is the 60 day notice of vacating the property. You have to notify them two months in advance if you are going to renew your lease with them. If you do not give them your notice 2 month in advance, they will automatically change it to a month to month. Your rent will surly go up an extra $400.00 for the month to month. You will then only be allowed to give them a 60 day notice from the end of your lease. So, if you do the math, you are out an extra $800.00 while you have to put up some kind of deposit for your next place. I also tried to move into a two bedroom apartment from a one bedroom apartment and they wanted to charge me $1000.00 for the apartment transfer.

Let s see what else' Oh, and then my car gets broken into. There was, to my knowledge, four cars broken into within the last fifteen months. That s around $200.00 - $400.00 depending on the window and then what ever that person stole from you. Would the apartment complex think to get security' Maybe think about protecting their tenants. NO, they don t want to shell out the extra money to make sure that nobody s property gets damaged or that nobody gets mugged!

All in all, don t rent here!

Okay to defend the parking problem. I know I have come in from work at about 2:00am and have found no parking available because of non residents. The problem has been a serious issue in the past. But seriously next time you sign a lease bro you might want to read it. I know that when I signed mine I looked it over before signing. Oh and to enlighten you a bit on this topic its almost a standard practice for apartments to have that or some kind of clause like that in there leases. Now about your car, they did have security here at one time and it was alright until people started complaining about the security following them and asking people if they lived here. But one really good thing that I have on my car that Maryland requires is insurance.

To the person who posted the initial review, sorry for your problems. :( This really is a dreadful place to live, isn't it? Obviously we all have opinions, but I really puzzle over those who rave about what a great place this is. It makes me wonder if they have low expectations to begin with, don't know any better (this is either their first apartment or they've lived in places as bad or worse), or feel like it's the same no matter where you live. And that's just not true. There are many good communities out there. This just isn't one of them. That's a bummer about the lease, but you really do need to read it carefully, esp. the fine print. The acts of vandalism ARE a concern though. Just last week there was another notice on everyone's doors. Break-ins and other vehicle damage is occurring with increasing frequency. It's depressing. Thankfully, I'm out of here in 2 weeks, and this place will just be a bad memory, lol
