Where do I start''

What a nightmare. The day I got the key from the office, I happily skipped over to my new apartment thinking the place would look a lot like the model. WRONG!! It took about ten minutes alone for me to unlock the door (the lock was jamming). I opened the door and walked in to see dirty carpets, the tile in the kitchen looked like a fricken crime scene, and the tile in the bathroom would have caused the hazmat team to throw down their equipment and quit on the spot. So, my roommate and I tried our very best to scrub the tiles and clean the place up before buying furniture (sofas and the stuff). Our first week there, the maintanence guy (which we have no problems with) took our medicine cabinet from the bathroom (still to this day don't know why) and replaced it with a smaller one, leaving a huge hole and gaping mark on the wall. We tried to wash the walls, but it still looked tacky. Most of the cosmetic stuff my roomie and I took care of ourselves, but as far as calling in problems (over flowing toilets, slow drains, bugs, etc) took a while to get attention. What would you expect from one dude working maintanence for a 350 unit apartment' HEED THIS WARNING: The lease says it's flexible. BE CAREFUL!! I got shot in the ass because my job moved me back to Chicago, breaking our "flexible lease". My roommate had to take a loan because the "carpet was dirty" and our lease was "broken". No matter how much we fought, the managers didn't fight back fairly (and yeah, I did write down that the carpet was dirty on move-in inspection, but somehow found they found dog urine in the carpet''')

The good: The neighbors are cool, the place is fairly quiet, and parking is - well, okay, I guess. I worked nights and sometimes had to park in the streets. Close to a lot of stuff, too. Good luck if you're thinking of moving in. I hope you've had better luck than we did.
