I moved into my 1 bedroom with a den in January of '05. The reason I decided on this place in the begining is becase I couldn't find any bad reviews and mostly based my decision on the low price. I shouldn't have been so cheap. This place definitely reflects the cheap rent. Things are always breaking. I have a long story about the windows that I will just sum up. I had maintenance out because my living room window was not closing properly and cold air was consonantly coming in. Not to mention it was in the middle of winter. They came out and came to the same observation that I did. The maintenance guy then explained to me that they don't fix this sort of thing and that they would need to have a contractor come out to fix it. The contractors just come out whenever they feel like it. Unfortunately, there was a big mix up with the contractors and the maintenance people. You see; the maintenance people have to be there to let the contractors in. The main office claims after the contractors and maintenance people tried to reschedule several times that nothing was going to come of it. So here I am still with broke windows. The weather is starting to warm up again and I guess they think I'll probably leave them alone until next winter. Nice huh'

But the summer brings another problem for my apartment. Since I've lived here over the past few years my air conditioner has been repaired a total of 9 times. The air conditioners here are from the mid 70's and have not been updated since. Mine sounds like a freaking tank when it's running and frequently craps out on me. It's a real piece. The absolute worst is the cost of running the ancient thing. It's the most energy inefficient air conditioner I've ever seen. With the uprise in BGE (The local power company) I was finding myself paying $240 electric bills over last summer. Can't wait to see what they will be this summer. Each summer the thing runs worse and worse. In fact the summer before last I had a weekend maintenance person come out on a hot august day when it broke down and the guy took one look at it and said it's not able to be fixed. You need a new unit. Then he went on to explain that he doesn't take care of that though. He's just weekend (emergency) maintenance. He said weekday (regular) maintenance would be the ones to install a new unit. So I had to sit around all weekend with no air conditioner. I mean, thank god I don't have little ones. These were absolute horrible conditions. The weekday maintenance finally came and he took a look at the broken unit and said, I think I may be able to get this running again and he did. It runs worse then ever now. It's loud and more energy inefficient then ever. So if he meant get it running again by somehow getting this broken down unit running like a piece of garbage; then in his eyes I guess he fixed it. Not to mention the regular maintenance guy for the property is uneducated redneck with the intelligence of a peanut. You really need spell everything out for him, because guess what'' He just doesn't get it.

As far as the monthly rent payment. Well now it's pretty much average for the apartments with comparable floor plans to mine in the southern Glen Burnie area. I could be having much better amenities and upgraded appliances with another property in this area for the same price now. Which is what I plan to do once my lease is up in January. When I first moved in January of '05 I was paying $800. It s gone up $88 extra per month in 3 years. The first year only about $15 the following year $33 and then this past time it was a $40 increase. Getting to be the same price as a minimum house payment. But to be honest you ll find that everywhere you re looking to rent. But something to keep in mind is that you could have somewhere much better in this exact area for the same price.

My conclusion is that I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. They are not energy efficient what so ever. If you think you saving a few bucks here over another apartment in the area you re probably wrong if the others you re comparing to actually has appliances that were installed in this decade. The maintenance sucks and are in my opinion very incompetent, unreliable, cheap, uneducated, and flat out lazy to boot. You re much better off somewhere else in Glen Burnie. Do yourself a big favor and don't get stuck in a lease at this dump.
