first, let me quickly mention the stuff i read in the other reviews, yes this place has HORRIBLE insulation, around the front door, sliding doors, etc, it BARELY keeps in the heat or a/c. the vents are located in the CEILING (we all know heat rises) so in the winter time when you have the heat on full blast its freezing downstairs and a sauna upstairs, and reverse in summer time, except the downstairs is always drafty so it kinda sucks all year round anyway. they just installed the new bg&e thermostat which i HATE, it makes controlling your temp in the house so much more complicated than it needs to be, plus i dont know if im going crazy but it seems like i have to set the thermostat HIGHER now to get a comfortable heating level.
forget about opening lots of windows in the summer time for a nice cross breeze, there are not enough windows on one side of the house to match the huge sliding glass doors, and as for the sides there are no windows at all (and we live on the side of the building, that makes no sense!).
the walls are horrible at blocking sound, we have a dog next door to us that will not shut up. if the neighbors want to play their music or watch tv even at a normal level, it kind of almost amplifys itsself into your room, so forget it if someone wants to have a few friends over, you may as well not even stay home.
the office "attempts" to keep the cars that dont belong here off of the lot by giving us some bogus sticker to put on our windshields, but they do not enforce the policy at all. i havent even bothered getting my updated sticker yet this year because i know its just there to make my car look ugly. they say that they are enforcing the policy of towing cars that are parked illegally (for example, in front of dumpsters that start to over flow because the trash trucks cant get to them) but i have seen very little progress in that. you also still have people parking in front of curbs marked for emergency vehicles, so say that my place (god forbid) catches on fire, chances are one of these a**holes are going to be blocking the firetruck. also in the parking lots there usually is some sort of water main break that needs to be fixed, or some sort of major construction activity, so get used to that.
dont even get me started on the quality of life that is living around here. the "fence" around this neighborhood is strictly cosmetic, and in my opinion whenever they get the thing working long enough to keep it closed (which is rare) they still arent keeping out the little hood rats, because there are more holes in this stupid fence then id like to admit to, so just anybody from heritage hills or the willows can just come strolling in anytime they like.
we got approached about a year or so ago by a group of people in the neighborhood trying to start some sort of unofficial neighborhood watch because things have gotten so bad, mostly alot of muggings. apparently because of the sharply designed architecture of the buildings, thieves have alot of hiding spots at night time catch you off guard. i remember a few years ago there was a neighbor who had gotten hog-tied in his own place and had everything in his apartment stolen, and they left him there for over a day until somehow he ended up getting rescued. i know of another neighbor whos work truck got broken into and had some equipment stolen.
ive seen and worked in alot of different developments over the years, and this place is not the worst place to move, its sad to say but its alomst a decent place when you compare it to the ghettos in dc and baltimore, but its on a steady down hill slope. if you are looking to move in here for long-term id reconsider it. ive heard that they are making some more section 8 parts in the heritage hill community, and with baltimore trying to clean up the city and rehabbing old buildings for higher rent, your going to get alot more of that element coming out to the county.
oh by the way.... did i mention we have ROACHES now'!'!'!'!'!'!'!'! for years weve been fine, then you get some new neighbors and everything changes, now the building is infested, weve had exterminators out here multiple times, still they keep coming back! that is actually the last straw, we are now moving out because of this reason.
all the negative aside... i do think maintenance does a good job at keeping up on things, and during the day time this place looks really nice, and usually seems pretty clean and county-like. the 24 hour gym is a bonus, and the pool is nice too. if your place is outdated, all you have to do is ASK what upgrades they offer, and they are good about taking care of that, as long as your not one of those people giving the office constant headaches, then sure they probably wont do any favors for you.
just be careful when they try to use those upgrades as leverage to keep you in here. make sure to clarify that if you get any upgrades, you are not responsible to pay for them if you decide to leave within the years lease. they would be upgrading that apartment after you left anyway, so its a win-win for them (you get upgrades then you stay for another year, you leave they get free upgrades anyway by you paying for it). there are a couple of really nice ladys working in the office, but dont deal with the property manager, she seems very underhanded.
dont get me wrong, i gave them a fair star rating, but the place is slowly decaying. if you are concerned for safety, and having a nice place for your children to play, i highly recommend using the $90,000,000 a month you have to pay to live here (since theyve jacked it up so much over the years) to move some place in a higher-end community. there still are good people here, but just be careful.

i am a new teanant i totally agree i only been here for 6 months i hate it,, the gate havent worked in 1 month. I havent had an exterminator out yet. I have to park very far from my door every night coming from work. Now that i know bout the thugs i will be terrified. you said the gym..lol,, yea right and im not gonna even mention the so called business center that is never open and when it is only one limited computer. I can go on and on but I think you covered it all. You gave them more credit than i would. I guess you have some good things to say since you experianced some good being here when it WAS decent. As for me HORRIBLE!!!

these posts are certainly making my decision to renew for another year much easier!!our rent when we moved in almost 5 years ago was 995.00,it is almost 1300.00 now.we do not have any of the new upgrades that anyone else has around here.i'm sure if we asked we could recieve them but i don't think it's worth it.i am so sick of the noise coming from furnace branch road i can hardly sleep at night.i believe these last few months will be our last at the regency club!

We are considering renting here. We just got approved and I am wondering if this is somewhere we shouldn't even consider? We are a family of 6, so the space if great for us. The schools in the area are very good, and we are excited about this. Any further thoughts? Where would you suggest is a good apartment? All places are going to have some similar problems to the ones you have mentioned, but is it very very bad?? My family is very excited, should we not move here? I dont want to be scared living here when my husband is away at his second job at night? Thanks!!
