our washer leaks water and have caused extensive mold damage and they just picked up the carpet and took the padding out.. didnt replace the carpet, just steam cleaned it. they still havent replaced my washer and its been over 2 weeks. when we first moved in we didnt have air conditioning, we didnt have hot water, we didnt have a fire alarm.. nothing. this place is horrible. the upstairs airconditioning doesnt work and the hot water only lasts about 10 minutes. if i wasnt so desperate to live here i wouldnt, but we dont have anywhere else to go and we are binded by the lease.

After encountering similiar problems with Chesapeake, I broke lease and moved out. In the process I discovered that if there is a major problem that hasn't been fixed (in my case the ceiling was caving in above the kitchen sink for the second time) you can file a complaint in court and you won't have to pay rent for the time your residence was not fully useable by you. We had the same problem with water leaking in our living room and mold/mildew. At first they came and steam cleaned the carpet. We called the main office in Laurel as well as wrote a letter stating it is unacceptable we even called our pediatrician to confirm the dangers of mold/mildew. Also we had the problem with the hot water pressure in the shower they kept adjusting the valve until we called the main office, then they replaced it. We wrote a letter asking for 50% off rent for inconvenience and we got it. If you write a letter to Cheryl Baal (manager) and call the main office in Laurel you can likely get some results. They are use to dealing iwth section 8 people who are 9 times out 10 behind in payments who put up with it because they have no choice and say nothing, but if you do things in a formal threatning "non threatning way" they will respond. They hate it when you call the main office!

as far as section 8 they have to have everything in tip top shape because they are dealing with the state. they come and inspect the apartment every year. plus their not paying full rent like we are. maybe we should be on section 8!!!!!!
