Maybe i'm lucky but i've never had a problem at The Villages at Marley Station. I had an apt on Faywood Ave and I've never seen a roach the 2years there. There was a police officer that would sit in the parking lot across the street from time to time--esp. on w-end to make sure there was no disturbances or illegal activities going on. Of course there's noise because you are living in an apt. building, but in my building it was nothing so serious to complain about...i'm sure that others would have a problem if i was listening to music and watching t.v.
As for maintenence, whenever i had a problem i would call them and was always taken care of right away. They come in once a week to vaccum the stairwell and thereonce a week to keep the grass looking nice.
The apt itself to me, was safe. In the front of the buildings, they have an intercom surveillence camera and cannot go in unless you have a key or are buzzed in. My apt was well-kept with hardwood floors.
Overall, if you're looking for a cheap, safe apt, go with the Villages
