We have lived here since the beginning of the year. The apartment complex that we choose to lease, was Woodside. If we could go back, we wouldn't have signed the lease here.
The "example" apartment that they show is much nicer than what you get. We moved in with stains all over the carpet..not that that is a big deal whatsoever-just kinda gross to think about the slob(s) that lived her before you. Can't get myself to walk around barefoot in here either. Our kitchen cabinets were caked with grease & some genius stuck was appears to be "bubble gum" on the corners of each of the doors kinda like where you would put a little piece of rubber/plastic to help deaden the noise when the doors shut. However, this brown sticky substance just keeps the doors glued shut and you have to pull with all your might to get them to open. This is beside the point that this disgusting mystery substance is just gross in the first place. The drawers in the kitchen had crumbs and a greasy substance in them too. Our appliances are probably about 10-15 years old and it shows, especially when I try to cook. 2 of my 4 burners are WAY too hot/high and the lowest setting is still like what a HIGH setting should be. The BACK TWO (ya know the inconvenient ones) kinda work as they should. Frost free fridge' Ha, yeah right..my stuff in my FRIDGE gets icy on the next higher setting and my beverages aren't cool enough on the lower setting-lovely.
The flooring in the kitchen and bathroom is that crappy stick 'em tile linoleum and its absolutely disgusting. You can see through where they didn't cut the squares adequately and also some of the glue that they used to install it, never cleaned up so it just looks dirty.
We moved in to find a ring in our toilet. Scrubbing and bleach have not removed this stain..ewe.
The HUGE 8' sliding door DOES let lots of sunlight into your unit. This also translates into lots of nosy people peering in at all hours so you have to keep your shades pulled anyway. They are all very old as well-should have been replaced at LEAST 5 years ago. Ants can crawl through and heat/air escapes. Gotta love that..
They advertise their units like this: 1 bedroom with a den. 2 bedroom w. a den so that they can draw you in feeling like you should get a lower price since it isn't technically a 2 or a 3 bedroom. But then they add misc. charges so its NOT worth it. The "dining room" is a joke. Big enough for like 2 people..not even 3 or 4. A teeny little table is too big for this area. The "eat in kitchen" is also a joke. What kind of a table can you fit into a 4'x5' area' Its just too stinkin' small.
Laundry rooms are always dirty. The units are always broken or flooding the rooms.
NOISE LEVEL is RIDICULOUS. You HEAR EVERYTHING!!! Especially when theres a rude jerk in your building who decides to blast crap rap music 24 hours a day. NO ONE does anything about this either. You hear everything going on in your building and on the grounds b/c voices echo between buildings. AND THE PEOPLE HERE ARE SO FREAKIN RUDE AND UNEDUCATED so the conversations that you "over hear" are that of lots of EBONICS and CUSSING.
This breaks my heart--but people here let their kids RUN AROUND LIKE CRAZY literally ALLLLLLL hours of the day/night. I will look at my windows and see 1 or 2 little girls (like age 6-10) walking around the sidewalks by themselves at 11pm. I always go out to talk to them (even though I fear for MY OWN safety at this time of night) JUST so that I don't have to worry that some weirdo isn't going to abduct them! I always say "where's your mommy'" and they usually respond with "I live w. my aunt" or "I live with my grandma" and they don't care where these kids are..or I can't TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I've heard, "My mom is asleep, she don't care if we out". What the heck is a matter with parents/guardians' This IS WHY you hear those terrible news stories of little kids getting abducted and people doing horrible things to them!! SOO SAD!!! This is the type of people you will be living with. People who don't care about their kids..
There are GOOD Black people in the world. I AM ONE OF THEM. We take care of our stuff, AND OTHERS. We have full time CAREERS and try to better the world and our lives. We look out for other people, we are productive members of society. However, the black people who live in this apartment complex are the epitome of the "Black stereotype". I want to scream at them all "PULL UP YOUR PANTS, TURN DOWN YOUR UNINTELLIGIBLE MUSIC. GO GET A JOB and SUPPORT YOUR 5 KIDS YOU GOT CRAMMED IN YOUR APARTMENT, AND BREAK OUT OF YOUR STEREOTYPE!!!"
SAFETY-- It isn't HORRIBLE..but not great. Since the beginning of the year, we have had at least 1 shooting, and at least 1 stabbing. Both of which I watched the cops come and take care of. The cops are here at least 1x week dealing with somebody. They frequently cuff and put people in their cars and leave--how secure does that make you feel' I was followed one night from my car when I was bringing in groceries and that scared me to death. He was hiding behind some of the bushes when I caught a glimpse of him and ran. We also had someone break into our car and take a few random and not even pricey things. Just lovely.
Just found out that WOODSIDE gets government funding too for the people who can't afford their rent. That means that they accept section 8. We all know the unfortunate stigmas attached to Section 8 residents.
Bugs are also a minor problem. Getting some raid from Walmart will fix it, but still, ewe.
Oh and the POOL is gross. Completely nasty--don't even go check it out. You'll stay for 5 minutes and leave. The chairs are all broken, you can't even relax by the pool THE POOL water IS NASTY because a lot of people who live in here use that cheap grease product in their hair and it all comes out in the pool--eweeeeee. The bathrooms are disgusting too..just stay clear of the pool. Yuck.
The good things--you can always find a parking spot, even if it means you walk a little farther than you'd like, but so what. The majority of people need more exercise anyway. They DO pay for your gas bill and we all know high gas prices are right now. Gas = your range & heat in the winter.
The staff is pretty nice too. The 2 women in the office are sweet and will accommodate you as long as you aren't one of those people who complain alllll the time.
The apartments have a nice park like setting & there is a nice amount of room between each building. Its OBVIOUS that at one time WOODSIDE was a nice place. The grounds are pretty. However, the BUILDINGS are gross..the carpets are gross. They all smell..and every corner is dirty. Its gross.
Another good thing is the new shopping center across the street. Its nice to be close to that Super Walmart, the bank, the RITE AID that is about to open, and of course, Chick-fil-A. Its nice to be close to highways too (100 & 97)
Theres my honest account of this apartment complex.

Great review, and I agree with it since I have lived here 6 years... am looking to purchase a home though, don't want to stay longer than I have to. Husband and I have both had cars vandalized by idiots that obviously are stupid and have nothing of their own to take pride in. We are also a black family working everyday, and trying to lift others to a higher level... some people love to live in squalor, and do not want help... would love to see this apartment complex improve immensely considering that prime shopping center so close by.. what a shame...
