OK... here's my honest review of Woodside Apartments... negative and positive:
(FYI- I am not a problem tenant... I pay my rent on time each month or before the due date, have never had a noise complaint filed against me, mind my own business and don't really complain too much...well except for the music battle that has been going on with my rude next door neighbors... you'll read what I mean later)
Negative:
1. Hillbilly neighbors playing their music loudly in the parking lot and their equally hillbilly kids running the complex and screaming and shouting in the hallway.
2. The kids have zero respect for anything and are disrespectful as anything! Just yesterday my neighbor below me had her side window broken by a large rock that a kid thought would be funny to do. They play around your cars and sit on them. I've had to ask more then once for them to not sit or lean on my car. They play with frisbees and baseballs around cars too. A lot of the kids come from the nearby neigborhood of Woodside Square (ugly brown townhomes across the street). They back talk, cuss and are just all in all disrespectful to adults.
3. Laundry rooms: the dryer in the laundry room of my building had it's wire cut... no one knows who did it... I suspect some hood kids did it. You're supposed to keep the door locked and everyone in the building has a key. No one ever keeps the door shut and the neighborhood teenagers hang out in there.
4. I keep getting these really creepy bugs crawling on my ceiling and my walls. It's really nasty and I can't stand it cause I was raised to be very clean and I am. I take pride in my home and when I see these things, it makes me feel very dirty.
5. Jerky neighbors play their music really loud to the point where you feel like you're living next door to a dance club! Even after personally talking to them about their music and calling the office numerous times, they still can't get it through their thick skulls that some people do not like to listen to their horrible rap music. Next time, I guess I need to call the police and file a noise complaint through the County.
6. God help you if your AC breaks down in the middle of a HOT summer. You need a doctor's note saying that you require AC in order for it to be fixed in time. I give the maintenance guys kudos for working overtime, but there's so few of them. They always quit because of the one management girl... more on her later. I had my AC break down in the middle of that horrible heat wave that we had in June 2008. My apartment was inhabitable. My husband and I had to pack up our belongings and our three animals and stay with my mother for FIVE days before they promised that we would be on the list. When the day finally came for us to have our AC fixed, I came home on my lunch break to see if it had been done... nope. I called the office and got the RUDE manager who informed me that it would be done sometime this week. I had to call the Maryland Management Company (owners) and explain my situation to them. My AC was fixed later that day after I spoke to them. My AC broke down a total of 7 times during the summer of 2008 and finally had to be replaced after the 7th time that --- (wonderful guy!) came out to fix it (I got on the "emergency list") and it blew up in his face! Had to wait four days for a contractor to come out and replace it but they did give me a little rinky dinky window unit until then.
7. There's been a total of 2 shootings this year and although I am aware that there is crime and violence everywhere, it still scares me cause one of the shooting happened right in front of my building!
8. Speaking of the police, there's CONSTANTLY cops driving up and down my street and there's almost ALWAYS a police helicopter hoovering over the neighborhood. I don't know whether to be relieved that there's police or scared that there's whack-o's running around.
9. My husband has been forced to keep his motorcycle at my mother's house because in September of 2007 someone stole it from the parking lot. Luckily, we recovered it, but it was made painfully obvious that we can't trust our neighbors, or anyone for that matter, to have respect for our property to leave it alone.
10. Car alarms are ALWAYS going off and the owners of the cars take FOREVER to get to them to turn them off.
11. The rude manager in the office is named ---. She always has an attitude. Luckily, she's the assistant manager... so when you call for anything, hopefully you'll get ----- or -----. They're sweet.
Positive:
1. The apartments are a pretty decent size. There's a nice big storage closet to store your holiday decorations and cleaning supplies. The walk in closets in the master bedrooms are very big.
2. I like that they pay for your gas, water and heat bills. It helps when you're on a budget. Average winter bills for my home are around $29.00, (FYI- I keep it toasty in my apartment during the winter!) however if you have an energy hog AC unit like I used to have before it finally blew up, you'll have a BIG BGE summer bill. My BGE jumped from $25.00 to $99.00 in May and that was after I was using the AC for only two weeks during the billing cycle. My biggest one was almost $200.00 in July. I guess I can't complain too much because like I said, it's free to cook and I can take my showers for as long as I want and not have to pay a dime.
3. Maintenance usually responds to your requests within 48 hours... that is unless it's during the summertime when it seems that everyone's AC is busted... then it's a wait.
4. There's plenty of parking and it's not assigned so you and your guests can park anywhere. Just make sure that everything is up to date because the tow trucks stalk the neighborhood looking for expired tags, etc.
That's all I really have to say about Woodside... I'll let you decide if you want to live here. I don't think we're staying cause our rent is getting a bit overwhelming. I hope you found my review helpful.

Another tenant made mention of bed bugs, as well as roaches. That comment was dated 6/16/08. I am curious to know if pests are or have been a problem in the complex, and if so, what was done to treat the issue. There do not seem to be any reviews from 09, and as I am currently shopping for a new home, I'd love to get more recent feedback.
