I work as a property manager at a community in my home state California. My husband just got orders to Pax River and I was searching Apartment Rating to find not only a place to live by possibly transfer my job.

I have got to say that in the 23 years experience I have had in property management I have never heard of such rude tenants, or even worse people that don't even live somewhere and have the audacity to bash a community they know nothing about. I come from a community of 982 tenants and NEVER have they been as impatient, demanding or rude as some of the people I have had the misfortune of hearing about.

I once too was a renter (before I joined this line of work) and let me tell you, I feel sorry for all of you who have no other life but to sit in front of your computer and watch the "rates" to change at a particular property. I am not an incompetent person and find that my time can be managed a little more efficiently if I took care of the simple, small thing than to have to take the time to call & set-up and appointment.

Now knowing what kind of people come from St. Mary's County, I do not think that I will continue my career in property management. I think that with all of the negativity that I have read about will not allow me to enjoy my profession.

I agree with m_glaze... I also am an apartment manager (who happened to have lived at Hickory Hills but did not work there) and it just goes to show you that just because the rent is higher does not mean the class of people is higher! I work with low income housing and have NEVER had the issues with my residents that the people here are complaining about! Sounds like a bunch of spoiled brats who didn't get their way to me!! I feel VERY SORRY for the office staff!

For god's sake open your eyes. You think that strong-arming the internet, phone, and cable TV at REDICULOUS PRICES from the residents and then lying about it is a FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE? You think that hocking up the rent at a record 10% clip every year is a fair number given current inflation rates? You think that filing automatic court paperwork on a 3 day late tenant is kind, considerate customer service? People live there because they're forced to. I know it's not the policy of the staff there. It's the policy of the crook that owns the place. Get out while you still can!!!! Oh and I guess you haven't heard about the FAKE NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION the owner uses to gouge money from it's hapless renters? WHoops, sorry to bust your bubble but I'll move somewhere else and NOT give them my new address.
