I have lived in both a 2 bed to bath w/basement unit and I currently live in a 1 bed 1 bath unit. The pros are friendly staff (although I have caught a 'tude every now and then), EXTREMELY pet friendly, don't charge that much to fix stuff when moving out, decent amount of space. The Cons are numerous but what I experienced was Ridiculously small parking spaces (I drive a honda civic but everyone else seems to drive huge vehicles and parks over the lines leaving me no space at all, and management does nothing about it), In the 1 bedroom unit there is a studio under you so it attracts all the "low-income" read "kids" to live under you. (I am 21 and have been on my own for 2 years so I don't hate young people they just make a ton of noise and come in at all hours of the night, I don't do those things), The units are designed horribly, I couldn't fit my couch I got from my parents (been in family for 19 years) into the unit because they are designed so crappy). There was paint on the carpet, doorknobs, vents, etc.. The maintenance staff are very nice and prompt but not skilled or educated. I could do the job better myself. Also I hate the gate. They don't care that the residents think its ridiculous and they just put it up. The keyhole is so far back from the curb you have to get out to open it. Overall my experience with hickory hills has been hot and cold. The difficulty of the gate combined with the person who lives under me is making me contemplate signing a new lease very heavily.
